Wanted: Pics of single DIN adaptor

Featured Replies

I'm considering changing the radio in my Octy for a unit that needs a single DIN slot. Does any one have any pictures of the replacement trim in place they could post please?

they dont look that great tbh, there are a few pictures on here. I'll try and dig one out.

this is the official skoda one, with the surround sprayed silver as its supplied in black.

Buy the skoda one if you need to change the HU, the autoleads kit looks worse. This is the autoleads one using the original surround.

sorry about the image sizes, I linked to them from other threads.

I fitted one the other day and hope to have a guide with pictures up soon if that would help.

Top man as usual Stu.

I have the Skoda one and it is definitely GOOD quality and comes with a new surround for a perfect fit plus all connectors (ISO to CAN BUS) wiring and fitting instructions. Well worth

I have to say I too think it is well worth the

Ooh the cheek of it. ;)

That was my Autoleads picture. Note the 'was' in the sentence as I now have a MFD2 but if I were to do it again I would buy the proper Skoda facia adapter.

Many thanks guys - a couple of questions now spring to mind (both relating to the official Skoda adaptor) -

1) Can HU be fitten in the bottom slot, with the tray moved to the top?

2) As well as the ISO adaptor, does is include the power injector thingy for the aerial?

I can't 100% be sure on the fitting of another DIN unit - It certainly isn't designed for that.

Yes it includes the amplifier and a wiring loom which takes power dirctly from the fuse panel.

Doubt it very much; the tray narrows at the back. i.e. it is, say, 5cm tall at the front but only 3cm tall at the back.

The tray has one of the grippy rubber mats in it which I find perfect to put an mp3 player on with the connecting lead going through a hole in the back of the tray (if you have a jumbo with mp3 connection, you loose this connection and the boot mounted CD changer when you fit an alternate HU - or at least I did).

If you want to put the HU in the bottom slot, then you'll probably have to go for the Autoleads fascia. In this, the try is removable, and can be in either the top or bottom.

The Autoleads part also allows the fitting of 2 DIN units should you need to (which I do).

As for quality, I think it's okay. Having said that, I've not actually fitted it into the car yet. Once I do, then I'll post some pictures.

All installed and working fine, albeit with one little issue -

To have the unit switched on either the engine has to be running, or I have to leave the ignition on (with the fan etc all powered up)!

Does anyone know a way of getting an equivilent to the old Accessory +12V feed?

I had my Alpine fiited with the Skoda double DIN kit my my dealer, and have the same issue; any solution?

It would be useful to be able to switch the engine off but still have the radio working 9to change CDs for example) until you take the key out.

The only way I've found of getting this to work is using the CANBUS adapter shown here:

Skoda Octavia installation

It's the third one down from the top on the page.

I needed this adapter, as I'm fitting a Pioneer satnav unit, so wanted the reverse signal and speed pulses. This adapter is also very good, as it contains an inbuilt aerial adapter and amplifier as well.

It's costly, but does the job very well.

Ah; OK - at that price I think I can do without and just leave the ignition on when I need to!

I agree - at that price I'll give it a miss.

When I've got some time, I'll look at knocking a little circuit up that will supply a 12v feed, for say 30mins, after the ignition has switched off - This way all that would be needed is a quick flick of the key...

I think that is just the nature of the system. If you had a permanent live feed to it then as you know it would always be on.

I had a look through the Current Flow Diagrams but it's difficult to identify what might be what we know as an accessory power.

I'm getting increasingly frustrated by not being able to have the radio on without the engine running...

With this unit, when exactly are you able to operate the HU?

I fitted one the other day and hope to have a guide with pictures up soon if that would help.

Hey,

have you by any chance gotten that guide finished? :)

I want exactly that silver look and 1-din... but I am not sure whether I should orther the part, and try myself, or get a dealer to do it

Must say the Skoda one looks much better than the Autoleads one. The auto leads one was pretty sturdy though in my car.

I really must get round to doing that one.

Actually I have a question

When you buy the spare part... the silver fascia, what do you get?

I have attached a modified image, of the authors post.

Do you both get the Red arrow thingie, and the blue arrow thingie?

16560.attach

You don't get it in Silver.

You get the surround, the cubby hole and some wiring parts.

I dont get the silver thingie, that the red arrow points on?

What is cubby hole?? The blue arrow?

sorry for my bad english :(

You get the part but just not in silver.

The cubby is the storage.
