Was fairly amazed to see, on the M6 on Thursday evening, an 07-plate Mk1 Octavia taxi!

Seeing as the Mk2 hatch appeared on a 54-plate, I thought this was pretty good going :D

Can only think it's been stock hidden away somewhere!

On a similar note, I see a Ford Escort locally, on an 02-plate, despite the Focus being released in 1998! Bizarre...

Maybe they imported it from India - they still make the Mk1 there don't they?

IIRC they still did the taxi pack for the Mk1 Octavia until recently.

It must be one of the last ones, obviously obtained at a great discount.

The 'classic' Octavia 1 was made up until last year iirc for this market (I think is still available elsewhere as mentioned). They quite often come with an odd spec, manual windows and climate isnt uncommon.

They're available still through Cabs Direct and other similar companies that offer to the cab trade, something like

I've seen a couple like it in Scarborough this morning. Haven't had a chance to ask the drivers about them yet. Good excuse for a night out, specify which cab I want to collect us and then question him about the Octavia. No doubt it would make a change from "So, have you been busy tonight?"

I saw an 04 reg classic Beetle camper last week!

Mk1 vRS octy still on the dealers price list here in Ireland

You can still get them in Spain, they are called the Octavia Tour

I've not seen an 07 but there are 56 plate ones by me.

A local Vauxhall dealer used to do brand new Brazilian made VW camper vans on current plates.

Oh and I've also seen a reasonably new CitiGolf driving around which confused me

Yep, 56 plate Octy Mk1s aren't uncommon. I thought dealers here could still order them, primarily for the taxi trade. :)

Saw an 07 Octy 1 the other day too.

I saw an 04 reg classic Beetle camper last week!

They still make them I think , in Brazil or Mexico , either Aircooled or with the 1.4 75 PS Golf/Fabia/octavia engine in (this version has a front rad grille for the water cooling system )

Danbury Motorcaravans - Danbury Rio

PS , a couple of 07 Mk1 Octy taxis in Berwick too!
