Air filters!

Featured Replies

Just had a look at my air filter which is filthy and can't be performing that well at all! :D So, I'm looking at getting a green cotton panel filter to replace it as these can be cleaned and should last for the life of the car (or so the advertising spiel says) as well as giving me that all important extra 5bhp lol!

......So, where's the best place (read best as cheapest ;)) to buy one - a quick google only seems to suggest buying from greenfilters direct.....

Thanks.

Chris

There was a group buy recently, but you should still be able to get 10% off. There's one sat in my car waiting to go in mine when I do my 40K self-service.

Car is now officially 3 years old and 1 day. :D So, no more warranty for me... hee hee. Also means no issues with mods.

edit: 5bhp only? Being a bit on the leniant side?

you could also try greens site direct. do a search on google for green filters uk and its the first or second find.

Does the green filter not have problems with MAF sensors blocking up which I read quite a bit about on here?

Green Filters are lightly oiled........as an example I have run a Dynatwist CAI for close on 10k miles and have not had any problems.

Over oiling is most probably the cause of filter related MAF problems...I only put one light coating as per the cleaning/re-oiling instructions.

 seems fine on mine, they are not heavily oiled so should not affect the MAF..check my previous posts and you will find myself and SKODIRS arranged discount from Chris Green @ Demon Tweeks.....should cost you

I'm thinking of sourcing a CAI kit for the Furby now. If the MAF does go, then, hello Mercedes MAF!

Well, found my local distributor for Green Filters (about 5 mins along the road from my house! ) and they said unfortunately Green UK are waiting on a shipment from the US so they are in very short supply at the moment. Chris Green suggested 7-10 days and I'm still waiting to hear back from Bill, but it's looking like I'll be getting a replacement paper filter in the meantime and then getting a Green one as and when I can find one :)

Chris

Can have mine for oooo, say

Well I've just ordered a green filter, so I will wait in anticipation for it's arrival, and let you know if I think it makes much difference. Mod after Mod after mod.... It never ends....

Cheers

Getting my 40K "service" *cough* (although at 39.5K no service lights come on) and I'm asking the bloke to fit my air filter at the same time... Actually I may save on the labour rate and ask to borrow a philips screwdriver and do it myself!

40k service should include an air filter anyway so he'd have to open the airbox in any case.
