vag com 409

Featured Replies

what is the difference between this one and the latest and what can i do with the 409 version?

many thanks

what can i do with the 409 version?

Nothing on your car.

You need a genuine CAN capable cable which will then give you the use of the latest version of software.

cheers, reason is ive ordered a lead off ebay and all feedback show it works but only with the 409 version.

It may well do.

However the Octy II is CANBUS and therefore needs a CANBUS capable cable, not the K Line one that you will have bought from eBay.

Ross-Tech changed the way they license the software, so the only way to get genuine use of a CAN capable cable with their software is to buy a cable from them.

Which works very well, and dare I say since out last update at work on VAS 5051 a damn site quicker as well.

so the cable is no doubt useless? :(

It'll work fine on an Octy I or a Fabia.

thats cool, they lied then!! so no chance it could reset fault codes?

Who lied?

so no chance it could reset fault codes?

I think you are missing the point a little mate.

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: CAN-Bus Information

There are two systems used by VAG to communicate with the car - K Line and CANBUS.

Yours requires CANBUS, you bought a K Line Cable.

ah right, i feel embarassed now for asking the last question, sorry stu!!!

No problem, not everyone understands it.

how much import tax will i be looking at if i order it from ross tech or could i get it from a uk supplier?

I depends on which one you buy. I have the full Hex-Can and I think it was around

  • Author

does that have the options to go in and fiddle with say the alarm cherp and lights? also does that include the licence for the software? sorry for so many questions

It's a full system but is limited to CANBUS cars. The HEx+CAN does CANBUS and K Line.

Have you visted the Ross Tech website and looked at the product comparison table?

i have and sort of understand it. ill give it the course of the day and will no doubt order it by tea time when that credit card finally burns a huge hole in the wallet ;) cheers stu

damm it i know my credit card number off by heart and ordered it ;) thats 5 .4. . .

You'll be surprised how quickly it arrives.

  • Author

and how quick i limit that card ;)

certainly is quick. i ordered mine last week, it shipped on thursday and arrived on the doorstep this morning!

did you have to pay customs tax when they arrived at your door? over the phone or do they bill you that bit later?

You'll get the parcel thinking you've got away with it, and then a couple of days later you get the bad news.

tney send you an invoice in the post which you phone them to pay. ive had it with a lens i got from hong kong

thats cool, i had a parcel sent a few years ago to my ol dears as i was at work, poor woman had to cough up about 20 quid, good job she had her cheque book to hand ;) i was hoping it could be sent through another company then i could have got the delivery rate cheaper.
