Anyone bought their VRS then regretted it?

Featured Replies

At first I regretted t, suppose being a fairly active member of the Ford Focus Owners Club and having done up my previous car but not anymore, with having a quicker car it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, and it feels better built than the focus. The diesel motor is cracking and would not consider going back to petrol.

Now starting to save for the next skoda.

I love my Skoda as well but hoping to move job soon so no need for the diesel. Have loved evry minute of my skoda and will continue to until i sell it.Now lookin at a mazda 3 mps aero petrol monster. Whoop!

The only thing I regret is the 5% of the time when the roads are dog rough and the car does not like it one bit.

The rest - very very good.

The near instant urge - without drama without fuss and noise.

Sometimes I think the power is a bit mundane - then I see an overtaking opportunity and wonder 'will it make it'. Answer - always - absolutely no problem.

As Klaxon said - the power comes in as a wrecking ball and then it's all over too soon, but then you've gone past the car in front with ease (or similar).

For myself Skoda got this bit just right - power where you most often need it.

I agree totally.

I have had mine 2 years, the performance is great aswell as economy driving is great aswell.

The only problem I have is that I'm now driving on dog rough roads on the way to work and it brings the worst out in the car. Soo many rattles and squeaks.

The thing is on decent roads it flawless and the percieved build quality is excellent.

I'm getting a bit fed up. I wonder if better dampers would cure the problem of rattles?

At the minute I have stuck in cushions between the bits that rattle. Apart from passenger door as the whole thing rattles.

I am giving it one last go to the dealers

Not one bit. I still have a grin on my face whenever I turn the key, and whenever I put my foot down in my favourate vRS gear, 4th. Mmm torque.

No regrets whatsoever, best car i've ever owned by far, wish i'd bought it years sooner. I still look forward to taking it for its next drive, every time!

yep i do every month when the finance payment is due lol :( but a quick spin round the block soon puts the smile back on my face :D other than that its awesome! .. not regretting it one bit! excellent little car, i love when i take people init who think its "just a Skoda" soon change there minds when they get out :D

No regrets from me after 9 months of ownership.

Squeaks and rattles are part of owning a car in my opinion. If you want absolute luxury with excellent sound proofing and grade A fit and build quality, get a VW Phaeton, a Bentley or if you cant afford these which most probably cant, get a Citroen C6.

The Fab vRS is a great 'drivers' car, and real drivers don't give a **** about trivial things like creaks and rattles. And if the wipers judder - replace em with a decent pair of Bosch or Champion wipers.

If you want absolute luxury with excellent sound proofing and grade A fit and build quality....... get a Citroen C6.

:rofl::rofl::D

Bet no-one has ever said that about a Citreon before!

We've never regretted buying the Fabia. It's now two years old, and apart from servicing it has been back to the dealer twice. Leaky rear doors and creaky drivers seat. Both sorted with minimum hassle.

Dealer has been great, service costs reasonable and performance fantastic.

Overall it's been a great purchase

Had my SE for 5 months. Had a Vectra before so I miss the space, but I love the performance. Took it round Germany, theres no better feeling than leaving Beamers and Mercs on the Autobahn. Looking to get a remap now.:)

Same here with the finance payment situ, will I have money to spend on the car, insurance but it all works out in the end.

Even when I'm in a bad mood just jumping into the car and going for a spin to clear my head puts a smile on my face.

Not really.

I got it as it was the best TDi (performance and kit) on the second-hand market for my money. There's been a few times though when I've questioned whether I've made the right decision but never enough to cause regret. Yes there's creaks and rattles but to be honest, for the money I'm more than happy with it. The creaks and rattles are part of it and are what make it 'my' car and give it a type of personality that a sanitised bigger VAG brother probably doesn't have. If you bought the car looking for Bentley levels of workmanship, Porsche engineering or Ultima (;)) performance then of course you're always going to be left wanting more, it's a car about cheap(ish) thrills, affordable motoring that can put a smile on your face when you put your foot down but doesn't leave a hole in your wallet when it comes to insurance / fuel bills.

Saying all that mine still feels slower than the one the dealer gave me for my first test drive. I wouldn't be suprised if that one had a few 'tweaks' to pull customers in. It didn't matter as I'd already decided that a Furby vRS was the way ahead for me.

Matt

(P.S if you own a red vRS O*55 X*A in the south somewhere can you please let me know if your car is 'tweaked' or if I'm imagining things. Otherwise I'm left thinking my Furby's lost a few horses  ;))

I was blown away with the performance on the test drive and when we bought the car it did not seem to have the same performance as it did on the test drive, maybe because we have driven it so much now.

The creaks and rattles are present in mine but just turn up the stereo and forget about them.

Yes

I am so glad I got rid of my skoda now have Honda civic Skoda never again!!!!!!

Not yet......

Mine is just 3 years old (yesterday) and it's starting to rattle and bang more now. I have had it since new and done 55,000 in it.

It was nice and tight when new, like all cars, but now it seems loose when the going gets rough (bit like a retired prostitute) :D

Seriously looking at a new Ford Focus as mine is 3 years old and there doesn't seem to be any site of a new Fabia vRS???? There are some good deals on these at the moment.

Overall, I would say it's been a good 3 years.

Skoda have until crimbo to let us know about the next Fabia vRS or I am sad to say ......I'M OFF!!!!

Ben:)

Regret it.. sort of, it was purchased as a run around third car.. hence its only standard.. starting to think we should of just got a little 1.2 corsa etc.

However the 0% apr the 50mpg and the preformance make up for it!

Plus getting cut up on slip roads by some prat it a 2.2 vectra diesel, me shrugging my shoulders at him... him giving me the finger and putting his foot down and the furby keeping up with him was worth it

54k of extremly hard abuse and its still going strong only ever fault was the rear door seals. apart from that its been a great little company car

Had mine for 6mths now and wish I'd bought it a couple of months sooner.

Its perfect for me doing 25,000miles a year - and a bit of performance when I want it.

Im going to enjoy the rattles and all the other bits until I'm doing <10,000 a year and then VX220 ahoy, some lucky chap in Scotland has both !

Well after 2 months already had oil in the coolant, 2 new head gaskets and 2 cracked coolant pipes any regrets............ yes I got rid of a perfect 1.2 fabia but I have to admit the car is fun fun fun when not at the dealers.

Not in the slightest:D

On my second and can't fault either. had two Seat Ibizas before that. First was good second shook itself to pieces literally within 2 years! Interior panels were hanging off. Slight rattles I can live with. Some dealers in the sticks (Maud) good to deal with.

Had mine for 3 years and it's been a gem. Probably best car I've ever owned - in some ways - but not in others. Nothing but praise for the Skoda dealers I've used. It's going to go soon as I want something a bit more grown up but I know I'll miss it big time - even my wife agrees and she doesn't really care about cars.

It converted me to diesels completely and that was a real trick at the time.

  • 2 months later...

Had mine (Octavia)for 6 years  Was prob one of the first bods to buy a vRS. No regrets. It's been a great car and has served me very well. Shame the new one is 2k more than the old with less standard kit. The Skoda dealers I've been at have always been very good.

Dont think you can say it was the best value for money and best kitted ont he 2nd hand market can you, as you could have bought a fully kit laiden Golf GT TDI 150 or the Leon Cupra TDI both of which are the same or cheaper than the vRS and are faster to boot.

The Seat Ibiza Sport TDI 130 is the best value small city car (same class as the faia) as they start from

I regret not finding out it couldn't tow until after I bought it, lesson 1 never assume anything, having said that it was a fun car.:)
