Are these abreviations something I should know about? Or are they best left alone??

Best left alone

Who says naked pictures of moi would be distaistful anyway???

It wasn't that the photos would be distasteful, just the asking about them;)

Anyway, tell us more about your shower...

Hi, Emma

Think I saw a previous post about your car passing its' MOT but it started overheating.

Make sure you have a thorough czechkover ( ) before you take it to Prague - possibly save some grief and real expense.

I'd think about replacing the thermostat too ........

yeah. and check your throttle cable.. they've a habit of snapping when your overtaking..

Have to say I have never had quite so much attention on a forum before!! lol Still that was pre photos...

Have now hopefully got an avatar and a signiture pic of Saffy...heres hoping it worked...or not...

Cheers for that. The avatar pic worked, and you're not bad. >

One of the usual questions there is "are there any naked pictures of you on the internet"

You wouldn't want to see me nekkid! Whether or not Emma has supplied any "special" pictures of herself to her SO is very much her business though!

Am I the only Octy Sport owner on here?

Noo ;)

OK...trying to drag thread back on topic...:finger:

My little skoda has a ticky sound when it is driving..any ideas what it could be..am thinking maybe low on oil, so going to check that but any other thoughts?

Thanks

could be anything, but would be wise to check the oil/water etc first. does the ticky sound get faster/louder as you drive or when its cold/hot?

The cam-chain getting a bit loose is a fairly common cause of noises like that.

Repeat - before you go on the trip - go to a good independent garage and get a thorough checkover.

Make up a list of spares (ask the garage & knowledgable friends what they would recommend), fan belt, maybe another spare tyre, thermostat (change possibly in case this is the cause of your overheating), 1st aid kit, torches, spare bulbs and on and on.......

Thanks peeps!!

The thermostat was changed less than 12 months ago by the previous owner so hoping that means its ok!!

the cam sounds a bit like a pricy thing...the sound does seem to get quicker as the car goes faster.

another quick question...any idea where they hide the VIN on these cars? Had a good look earlier while checking oil and water levels, (Both absolutly fine :D), and couldn't find it...any clues appreciated.

Many thanks

Bought my first skoda to do a banger rally to Prague in in August/Spetmeber......

Hmmmm............ I'm sure Makefish said all the places for the Czech trip were taken :rubchin:

Welcome to Briskoda :wavey:

How much a cam chain costs depends rather on whether you feel competent to change it yourselves, or would need to get a garage to do it.

Other possibilities would include pretty much anything that goes round. Does the clicking slow down when you change up a gear at steady speed or is it directly linked to the road speed? That will tell us whether it's linked to the engine stuff or to the driveshafts, wheelbearings or speedo.

The noise seems to get faster as I get faster, but doesn't get louder. The oil and water are fine....

ok trivia question now...anyone know what the e in lxie stands for??

Thank you

xx

If it's constant volume but speed dependant, my first thoughts would be of the speedo drive. In which case it's not worth bothering about unless it breaks in Switzerland!

As for the trivia question, no idea unless the full badge means "LX injection engine"? ;)

Could be something as simple as a stone stuck in the tyre tread .......but check to make sure it's not a nail stuck in the tyre............wind one window down at a time and see which side it is louder......then give the tyres a good check and then pull the car forward a couple of feet and check again.

I see where you're coming from, but he last time I'd anything like this the volume and frequency were both speed related (as in you couldn't hear it below 40mph).
