Who's got the fastest Skoda?

Featured Replies

Very difficult to ascertain as to who's does what unless you lined them all up and did track/rolling road tests together on the same day. There are indeed some pretty quick machinery out there but then there should be looking at the amount of money some have spent to achieve BIG bhp figures.

Brisky Top Trumps get's the thumbs up from me too

Couldn't we organise a Briskoda track day for Skodas and non-skodas separately (then together, the best Skoda vs the best of the rest!) somewhere in the middle of the country so everyone has a chance to get there, what a top day out that would be...... or has this already happened/going to happen?

I recently saw a couple of MK II Octy's which were just a whisker under 250hp and over 300lbft. ;)

Trax is in September.

So are we measuring "fastest" in bhp and lbft now!? Don't tell the diesel owners!

I cant find a thread on it in 'Track days', what are the details?

In case you missed the great big link in Jasons signature (In this thread) you could always try searching Trax.

SEE my sig :D:)

Jason.

End of discussion.

Why cant life be simple where you can ask a perfectly innocent simple question and get a simple helpful answer WITH NO SARCASM! :(

But we all know the Octy II is only geared to about 160mph give or take a few mph in top.. and a fettled car can hit it fairly easily

Maybe we could have two cards for des... with and without the WRC spoiler ;)

Why? Just because he has the gearing for a higher top speed doesn't mean he can pull it.

I have had the speedo needle nearly back to zero twice, only for a short period of time as my tyres are only rated to 185ish....it pulls fine thanks, albeit 6th is not much use below 100mph.

i bet he doesn't, he has 335jabbhp which aren't worth as much on the open market, more like around 275bhp looking at recent results from others ;)

It's a very nice 275 bhp then in that case:rolleyes:

Can you hit the limiter in 6th? I was simply making the point that just because you have longer gearing doesn't mean you could necessarily pull to it's maximum potential. It wasn't intended as a dig at you or your car. The 6spd TT gearbox myself, Stuart and others have and the 5spd vRS gearbox are both capable of over 180mph on a reasonable limiter and over 190mph on a 8krpm limiter. I doubt any Octy is going to genuinely do over 190mph or for that matter have the opportunity to do so. More powerful cars than ours struggle to achieve over 170mph at bruntingthorpe.

I can't hit the limiter (mine is set at 7400rpm) in 6th as it would be around 210mph, but it's nice to do a very high speed without revving the nuts off the engine all the time.

The way the ratios work out I can hit around 12mph more in each gear over the standard vRS 5 speed box, as well as having the additional 6th for mega high speed cruising. Ultimately I could happily live without 6th gear, but for long motorway runs it's fantastic.

not knocking it mate as i bet it goes lovely but fro example Stuart has the same setup which Jabba claim is 350bhp yet made 280bhp at JKM, even if its running slightly under perfect as suspected they think its only 20bhp maximum down, not knocking Stuarts car either just that RR's are rubbish.

out of interest what does the vRS speedo go to? whats 0 going to be roughly and did you have a GPS device steeve as i would be quite interested as to how fast it was :D

and on another note all eddy is saying is that sometimes longer gears can actually make a car slower as it means you have less leverage at peak power so the car might not go as fast, i have done this on Forza a few times :D

The speedo goes to 160, but I reckon it would've been at approx 185/190 assuming the speedo was accurate. I always run out of clear road before the engine relents. '0' would probably be around an indicated 200mph. Haven't done this with GPS as yet, it is on my 'to do' list though next time on the continent.

I appreciate yours and Eddys comments as I can see 100% what your all saying regarding the extra long gearing to:)

glad everyones happy, sounds like it goes well but i'd take 10mph or maybe even a bit mroe off the speedo figure at that speed, my speedo was about 7mph out at an indicated 145mph so adding another 40mph will probably take it that bit further out, either way thats bloody fast

What we need is an Octavia with a bigger block, a GTnutter Mk1 turbo, ported and flowed head, equal length manifold, 6speed box with trick diff, external wastegate, ali flywheel, a bigger intake manifold, fully stripped out, 4" intake, 3" exhaust, RED..........etc.

I wonder where we could find something like that.

does my first post not count then? you ask who has the most bhp and thats either eddy or dave, who has the fastest 0-60 and thats Eddy, top speed would be between Eddy and Dave probably due to having the highest power and the most focused big bhp car is Des's so *should* be the fastest round the track or did none of those answers fit what you wanted to hear? should we all be like Bas and simply say Jason's car is the best ever ever ever regardless of why or how?

know anyone? :P

Probably one of those 1.5 17v thingies. :P

Don't worry bengie, it was the above question that got the sarcastic reply, you weren't involved. I can see i'm going to have to sharpen my whit considerably to compete with some of these guys, ha ha!  :thumbup:
