its not the biggest problem in High Wycombe if you were in Dubai like some of the members then it would be a first on the list of mods! I found mine used to loose about 20 bhp in v.hot weather but it really needs to be above 30 celcius to get that sort of heat soak...

If you are going to mod lightly, you may get away with the pikey mod for th IC ...

but big turbo's then custom maps , and a FMIC is useful....

the big brakes will fit under the original wheel, and I think they look cool because they really fill them...

With my Revo map the intake temperatures were reaching over 90 degrees C. Anything over 40 isn't ideal! On the rollers it was 175bhp, 274lb-ft. Drive your car hard and the turbo will get very hot, over a period of time something may go bang like mine did. With hindsight I should have got an FMIC much sooner.

But if your not going to use the full potential of your engine regularly then as above the pikey mod will be fine.

It's not needed but it may help (you need to get it remapped to properly take advantage of it). I'd not bother unless I was going down the hybrid turbo route....

In response to your other question, yes, 312mm brakes will fit behind standard fabia vrs 16" wheels

I imagine it's more beneficial in terms of heat soak than increasing outright power, especially without a map and in this god forsaken cold wet country.

Due to the increased tubing etc they also increase lag slightly too.

Without a map etc I wouldn't bother. Unless you're planning to move to Dubai as above.

Remember, it cools the air AFTER it's come out of the turbo so won't stop the turbo getting hot either.

Totally agree - if you dont get it remapped then dont bother as there will be a small increase in lag. If you get it mapped then this can be virtually eliminated

I'd like to see independant graphs etc. Forge are making and selling those things so will show stats that back up their claims that it makes an improvement.

For the money I personally wouldn't bother on a standard car. Even with a map you don't 'need' to have it done as such, the car will still fly without it. It just won't be at its best on the SMIC as the charge temps will undoubtedly go up with the extra boost on the map.

You might try the "Pikey" mods to try to offset the heatsoak a little.

Reading SCN, they write off the SMIC if using the car hard. By hard, they seem to mean on track or on constant WOT to log the intercooled air temperatures.

The pikey mod does have a good effect at reducing heat soak I've found.

Means you can give the car a battering and it still has some go in it, even with the A/C on.

Before, come off a motorway and all its power would be sapped for a little while.
