Vag com and air con

Featured Replies

Is there anyway of entering the air con settings with vag com to lower the air con temp. even through the air con makes it a bit more bearable in the heat, it still doesnt get down to a cool enough temp and is starting to become annoying on hot days.

When cooling, where max cooling is required, eg. on a hot day then the coldest air possible is sent through the vents. For more rapid cooling, then set the control to recirculate mode for a short time to drop the temp faster. If the air, really is not that cold then you may have a problem with the A/C system and needing a regas. I know mine is ice cold, in fact it can be to cold at times.

Mine should be getting repaired soon by APS, hopefully this Friday :) - will find out how cold it gets again :D

Mine seems to run too cool....

Mine is still chucking out ice cold air despite never having been serviced. If it's not cooling the car comfortably, then I'd drop it in to the dealers to see what's wrong. How cold does the air feel coming out of the vents?

Give the man an interface and he's armed and dangerous!!

You'll end up breaking something soon.

A new evap sensor didn't do the trick then? Do post up what ends up being the issue, as I need to get mine sorted soon really. Still trying to decide whether to put a new evap in, even though I have nothing to suggest that's the fault.

Might even take Kwik Fit up on their current offer of colder air-con or your money back!! Maybe that way find out if it just needs regassing, but my compressor doesn't sound like it's kicking in

Well Im doing well on what ive saved compared to what i would have spent at the dealer ;). seriously the air con doesnt seem that cold, my 9 yr old astra was colder when i traded it in for this car and it was never regassed or anything and this car is a few months old.

If it's under warranty, why don't you let the dealer investigate?

Not knocking you looking at a VAG-COM solution to this - just curious...

Ive got to pop down the dealer at some point, but ive had a big falling out with them as they dont want to listen now ive bought the car. There answer is leave the car with us for a week and we will look at it, here's a crappy bottom of the range car with brick hard seats for you to get round in (if you lucky).

Try another dealer? :P

can i just turn up at another dealer and they will do it on warrenty then?

Yes, if it's under Skoda warranty you can take it to any authorised dealer/repairer. Best give them a call first and get it booked in.

Is there not some diagnostic setting thing you can switch to on the A/C? Will that tell you the temp of the output air?

If you did know the temperature of the output air you might be disappointed. The a/c reduces the humidity of the air, so it feels colder and fresher to you but actually isn't much colder as measured on a thermometer. To improve cooling, a simple measure is to drop a rear window a little to promote airflow through the car. Like most modern cars, a Skoda is better at getting air into the cockpit than it it is at getting it out again.

My 2.0 FSi Elegance is giving me the same problem. Main dealer regassed it this morning and said the system diagnostics said there was no fault. It still only gives a slight cooling even at 16 degrees.

A couple of times it has really blasted cold for a few seconds so I'm still convinced it is a sensor problem somewhere.

My dealer acknowledged that the air con on my 06 Octavia 2.0 FSi Elegance isn't working, despite regassing the system and checking the engine management system. The test is to hold your fingernail over the vent and it should make it tingle.

The system did work when I first got the car couldn't put it below 17 or 17.5 Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

Will follow this one with interest as it seemns a very similar prob to what I'm experiencing on new fabia vrs se.

Mine is booked in tomorrow so I will push for a regas if I can.

it was facotry built to spec so not much waiting around.

get pressure checked first at any, or main dealer first then look for faults,a stone goes through the condenser very easy even on one week old cars changed a few before, first check is visual then pressure test only takes 5 min cheers
