Absolutely Gutted

Featured Replies

Lorry driver had killed a Tractor driver yesterday by hitting the trailer of the tractor, and sending the tractor over. Unfortunately, he was killed, the lorry driver on the other hand, escaped before the Lorry burst into flames.

I HATE Lorry drivers.

accidents happen though snoopie and that sounds like a nasty one, glad your OK Jon as it sounds as though it could have gone worse.

We've all seen either an accident or the remnants of one caused by a stupid car driver and its a hell of a lot more common than accidents by lorry drivers the only difference is the lorry is loads bigger. i can say that i get cut up by very few lorry drivers but car drivers and some van drivers are complete nutters.

On my way back from the Isle of Sheppy(SP) to oxford sunday we were on a stretch of dual carriageway and nearly everyone was in the right lane queing to overtake a lorry when a taxi comes flying up the inside and forces his way in but the worse bit is he was followed shortly by a wa*ker in a van trailering a westfield type thing who lined himself up with the rear bumper of one car then just slowly filtered accross regardless of the poor 106 that was level with his trailer :( unbelievable bit of driving.

again glad your ok Jon and sorry for the rant :(

Glad you ok. Cars a car...

This has just reminded me of last week when we saw a lorry overturn in front of us. Not a nice site.

Echo what others have said and glad you came out the other side. One of my ex's had the pleasure of being in a similar accident in her N-reg 1.2 Corsa on the M1 and I was astounded at the amount of punishment the car took but still remained intact for her to walk away from it with just minor bruising. Well worth going to the doctor's though as she needed physio on her neck and shoulders which were "just a bit sore" the day of the accident. Sadly the Portugese lorry driver who caused it couldn't be prosecuted as he wasn't English and we also had to claim through the CIB (I think that was it) which meant we had to stump up

Gutted for you mate, glad your ok though, there's so many near-misses on the road everyday, every now and again you get one of these situations when contact is made.

Sorry again.

Sorry to hear about the accident and that you are ok. i would see about whiplash injury compensation, plus as much help as you can in getting new car

surely... Portuguese... so he's alien... get the Men In Black to sort it? ;)

I think you mean the MIB (Motor Insurer's Bureau) eho deal with uninsured and untracebale claims. I remember them from my days working for a claim investigator.

Yep, they're the gits! Should have remembered the Men In Black link!

Chris

Yep, they're the gits! Should have remembered the Men In Black link!

Chris

Why gits? What did they do?

I would have thought they provide an invaluable service ... even though they may do it pretty badly!

Someone said,"see a doctor". Fine, but at A & E they'll only deal with damage which needs treatment now. No criticism. It is a good idea to consult a physiotherapist and ask about anti-inflammatory small dose treatments (e.g.Ibuprofen). After a whiplash type injury there can be bleeding on a minute scale for some time and this causes further problems and delays healing. Worth the effort.

Anyway, glad you're not worse and..... from a thread of some time ago.. did you by any chance wash the car the day before?

We're not superstitious of course; that would be unlucky wouldn't it?

Jon, sorry to hear the bad news and glad your OK, your car was a stunner when I saw it earlier this year, just glad you were in the car alone as it sounds like the passanger side is destroyed. Take it easy for a few days.

Thanks for the comments peeps.

I got checked out by the local minor injuries ward the day of the accident. The nurse advised me to take some strong pain killers (ie, Ibroprofen Plus) & keep moving my neck.

If things get worse or I feel tingling in my hands, I should go to the docs straight away.

I'm not going to start commenting on the wagon driver or any wagon driver for that matter, as I feel that it is inappropriate. However, the driver did admit liability.

I am thankfull that I walked away from a nasty accident.

Are ready for some photos of the poor little Fabia? :(

yes we are ready, lets see the damage

Are ready for some photos of the poor little Fabia? :(

Yep. :) Can't be any worse than the ones of my wreckage. :) (is it? )

Yep. ;)

Shame to see the Audi leather passenger seat has been totalled, but SO glad there was no-one sat there! That looks to me like a really serious injury, if not worse for any passenger....

How have other bits come off? - All 4 wheels OK? Airbags are intact :) Did you take the radio?

Whoa , ****! Just to echo other comments , glad your okay and it was very lucky there was no one in the passenger seat! Have you thought about a replacement motor yet , another Fabia? Oh and was the lorry RHD or LHD , apparently the LHD tractor units have an appauling blind spot which has led to several bad accidents in this country.

glad you are ok Jon,

i thought your car was one of the best looking motors on here, hope you get everything sorted mate

I noticed in my door mirror the wagon indicates & moves over to my lane.

My first thoughts were "bloody hell, he's close" & then I felt the impact!!

It sent me into spin & I bounced off a barrier on the right. The barrier throws me into the side of the wagon's trailer. At this point I knew it wasn't going to be nice, as I saw the side protection bars & massive wheels coming towards me. .

Phew

Going off the pics it looks like virtually 45% impact on the door - was this from the trailer after you'd bounced off the barrier ?

And bloody good job it wasn't the driver's side - am surprised by the amount the door has caved in, though the sill is pretty much OK, wouldn't have cared to be the passenger that could have copped for that.

BLIMEY!!! So glad you didn't have a passenger, the results could have been fatal.

Such a shame about the car Jon... :(

I think it was the trailer that did most of damage, but I'm not entirely sure. It all happened so fast & it seems a bit of a blur.

The O/S front alloy is badly damaged, as I think the tyre was pushed off the rim. The airbags are intact as there was no front impact (it was all on the sides).

The head unit came flying out & hit me on the shin! The only thing is, I can't find the front panel!

I had some CD's in the glovebox, but as you can see, the glov box is a little difficult to open!
