Absolutely Gutted

Featured Replies

My Fabia is no more. :(

Driving to work yesterday morning on a dual carriageway which has a two laned slip road (me being in the left slip road & a wagon in the right).

I noticed in my door mirror the wagon indicates & moves over to my lane.

My first thoughts were "bloody hell, he's close" & then I felt the impact!!

It sent me into spin & I bounced off a barrier on the right. The barrier throws me into the side of the wagon's trailer. At this point I knew it wasn't going to be nice, as I saw the side protection bars & massive wheels coming towards me.

I eventually came to a stand still about 50 yards after the impact.

The wagon driver stopped & came running towards me, obviously as shook up as I was!! Thankfully I was uninjured (well not visiblably anyway). I do have a very stiff neck & shoulder now.

As for the the Fabia, well it's a total loss. The N/S front door is pushed in to the centre console. The N/S front wing, A pillar & sill is pushed in about 9 inches, the roof is bent in about 3 places, the rear bumper was ripped off (don't know where that went!!) & various scuffs & scratches down each side.

You could say I'm a bit gutted, but at the end of the day, I'm OK. It could have been a lot worse.

Very, Very lucky. I hope things work out ok.

Glad you are OK ...cars can be replaced

Gutted for you Jon, but really glad to hear you're in one piece!

You going to be able to salvage any bits?

All the best mate.

Steve

Yeh unlucky mate, and we've just heard that the Ltd edition's have all sold so your lucks out in getting one of those to replace it too.

Scott

I thought on another thread discussing the remaining stock of the vRS SE that there were about 60 remaining in UK group stock?

:o Sounds like you were very lucky. Makes my little bump last week seem extremely petty.

Glad your Okay mate.

Blimey Jon, how gutting.

Glad you are ok though, a cars replaceable at the end of the day. :)

******* lorry drivers.

Good job you're in one piece.

Gutted for you mate but as you said.... atleast you are ok!!!! where abouts did it happen?

:eek:Glad you're pretty much ok mate.

You should get the doctor to have a look at your neck and shoulder to make sure you've not done any serious damage.

I agree, and the claim to go with it to.

o dear mate thats not good :thumbdwn:

As people have said its a good thing your werent seriously hurt. There have been a few accidents latley on here involving black furbys and although its gutting to see a dead fabia its re-assuring to see how hard they actually are.

Any salvagable parts ie wheels :D

glad you're ok!

lorry drivers are *****!

Bad luck on the accident, but glad you came out unscathed (seriously at least)

Has the other driver assumed responsibility, as it sounds like it was clearly his fault for moving over and not checking his blind spot?

Phew - but at least you're in one (slightly injured) piece.

Genuine mistake, I reckon. Despite some disparaging remarks about lorry drivers they have to be bloody good to manage tons and tons of vehicle in todays increasingly demanding circumstances. I've found the majority to be excellent.

I'm sure the guy is mortified.

Whatever ......

Be sure and get yourself checked over thoroughly.

sorry to hear this mate but at least you are ok.

you'll get another car sometime!

You must have some good ones near you then.

I have a 20-mile each-way commute to work along the M4 between Newport and Cardiff, and not a day goes by that I don't see some truly horrific driving from a HGV.

If they can't manage the vehicle, why are they driving it?

Just what I see, tis all.... and it's all I can form an opinion on! :)

But regardless... Everyone is alright, so it's fine. For now!

Fabias are tough wee buggers - just as well :eek:

Glad you're OK :):):)

Admittedly years ago - but I regularly used to drive up to 7.5 ton GVW (was allowed to in those days). Got a lot of consideration from other lorry drivers.

Don't do the mileage I used to (by any means) - nonetheless, from what I see most lorry / HGV / whatever... drivers are courteous and more 'aware' than ordinary motorists (must be a Welsh thing in your case :P ).

hahahahhaha, if only they understood they're only 0.2 mph faster than the lorry they're overtaking... :)

Metal can be replaced, life's can not. Take care

Totally agree good to hear you walked away, could have been a lot worse by the sounds of it.

Bummer about the car but glad everyone involved was okay.
