 at your posts Mike!

Now I'll just sit down with some  and watch from a distance...

To tall (hmm lowering would srt its stance)

Too narrow, IIRC its slightly wider than the Fabia 1.

I'm not sure it's the ride height - I think it's the height of the body sides and I suspect because it's tall it looks narrower. Not my cup of tea anyway :D

Chris

the body does indeed look higher than it is wider. i also think that it will prove hard to be a good rs. maybe there will be a new bodyshell you never know

For goodness sake, will you give them a chance! The Mk2's been out for 3 months

When I read Carjacked Mikes posts I always get a mental image of that bloke from 'The Fast Show' (which is a mid-late 90s comedy sketch show for the youngsters)...

You aint seen me, right?

Mike dont take offence it is meant as a compliment but it is partly the username and partly the brevity of the posts!

You are right about the new Fabia, its all a bit skinny and tall.

No!

HTH :D

Or was that aimed at someone else? :P

Mine neither, no matter which way you slice it

I understood that, but if the ride height is lowered the overall look will probably change. There isnt much weight in the top of the body so the centre of gravity will still be low, so it shouldnt be any more unstable than its predecessor.

everyones watching this space though so skoda are doing something right and also have a hard task on their hands. in the sense that everyone even those who dont like the mk2 fabia is wanting to see the new vrs to see what they can pull off

IIRC the new fabia is narrower than the old one , but taller , thats probably why it looks so top-heavy. Theres a facelift coming in 2010 anyway.

Im sure seen somewhere that it will be an new model rather than a re design. Just seen the pic of the Joyster in the new models thread - shame Skoda didn't use that design for the Mk2 .

Damn right, the joyster is pretty sexy :P

seen a white fabia kicking about in leeds, looks like a swift at a glance.. really cant see how they're gonna beef it up to vrs standards to be honest. flared wheelarches would be a start but i doubt they'd do that, more likely to have a new bumper and rear bumper and sills and that'll be it cosmetically. shame.

i much prefer the old fabia and octavia to the new ones.

I know this may offend some people but......

the mk1 fabia in normal guise look a pile of ***** but the VRS looks the part in my opinion and most people I know. They say they wouldn't thought a fabia VRS would look as good as it does, thinking of what the vanilla model looks like.

I'm sure the new one will look good and maybe they will pull it out of the bag. Just keep in mind of what they have done in the past with the old fabia.

/cries

sorry prefer the mk one to the mk 2 which imho looks like a mini pope mobil.

It must be summat to do with euro-ncap safety because to my eyes the new corsa, clio, swift and fabia all look similar...like everyone is being original and having exactly the same ideas at the same time.

I had the "pleasure" of driving a new shape Fabia for a day this week. There are two reasons whey this may not make a good base for a sporting model, but these reasons are inside.

First, the scuttle is very high, MPV like. The seats are similarly very high. If you put the seats in at a height that a sporting driver would appreciate, the view out of the screen would only be of sky.

Second, the dash and door ergonomics. The dash radio pod is as irritatingly positioned as it is on the Roomster. The door card handle trims intrude at knee height on the other side. A case of styling over function for sure, but would be bloody irritating if one were pressing on.

I am due to consider replacing the Fabia sometime in the next 12 months and at the moment, Skoda have nothing in the running and I suspect that if there is a Fabia vRS, it will be less driver orientated than the old one. The new Fabia is simply too MPV like to be a proper drivers tool IMO.

Chris

Its about time Skoda gave some information on the design and possible debut of a vRS Mk2!!

Mind you....Theyre getting less customer biased these days arnt they?!

i have of yet not had the pleasure of trying the new fabia but from the pics i have the gearstick does look not quite right to tall-ish. and i agree the cup holder looks to intrude on the knees. the other thing i dont like the look of on the inside is the door handle. it look flimsy. i can see me brakeing it off.

The radio binnacle is the worst offender for intruding on the knees. The car feels like a roomster with the comedy bit left off the back.
