VW Golf Bora Passat One Touch/Comfort Indicator Kit

Featured Replies

Just in case the Superb indicator/hazard wiring is the same as Passat, and anyone needs/wants the "3 flash lane changing" function on their car, there is a guy on ebay selling these VW accessory kits. The trader's name is vw_teesside, one listing ended today at 20:00 I think that the next listing ends in a couple of days (you can see when on his e-store or whatever). I fitted mine to my Passat on Friday, there is no nasty cable cutting, just removing 5 leads from the hazard switch, fitting them into a new connector, adding 5 new wires back into the hazard switch, fitting comfort relay into its base already wired into a new cable form, connect the newly populated connector into this cable form and that is that. Only hard bit is releasing the 5 socket pins from the hazard switch - panel pins/wire/tweezers needed here and a bit of swearing! I don't know why some of the VW mags have not raised awareness of this genuine VW accessory kit - maybe VAG UK felt that we did not want this in UK. Once again "thanks for good old ebay" - you never know what "useful" things you can get. To be honest, I had already bought the B3 kit from its manufacturer in Germany - but it requires you to use these connectors that partially cut through the wire - this VW kit uses probably the comfort relay from Audi and an extra cable harness.

Good info, I would buy from a VW dealer though. The kits work out at

Got any part numbers?

I would also be interested in this if it can be bought from the dealer at a cheaper price?!?!?

Have a look at the octavia thread something like "comfort indicators" ,the wiring for the octavia is the same as a b5 passat except for one cable colour in socket 6 of the connector one is green /black and the other is white black but following the numbers and ignoring the colour on that cable works fine ,but the part numbers are there and it is cheaper from a dealers

vw teeside is also selling heated seat kits for golf passat for

Could be the wiring differance is the same as the Golf wiring - this kit is for both - check the item on ebay and you'll find there is a installation guide (pdf doc). I would think that the Superb is same as Passat B5. VAG P/N for this kit is 000 998 229 A . Seems strange that an etrader is selling stuff at over the dealer price (and then you add postage) - but then ebay can be a strange place to shop, its not the first time that bidding has risen well above the proper price - but this item was a "buy now" or "best offer" and I had been turned down twice on "best offer" so not realising that this was a genuine VAG part, I thought it was best to up my offer and it was accepted (not full price by the way). Hum, you live and learn, I've given all my feeble excuses but in reality I really wanted one of these kits!

The wiring for the passat is much closer to the octavia wiring with only one wire a different colour but the same position ,with the golf there are several differences with the brown in a different position and the black/white in a different position .It also helped that I had in the past fitted a passat indicator/hazard switch to my octy and it worked perfectly (switch failed in france with only a vw dealer nearby )

Right, seeing as I started this thread, I have checked up on the price of this "convenience kit" with a local VW main dealer, once again, the part number of the kit is 000 998 229 A and the price is

..... just removing 5 leads from the hazard switch, fitting them into a new connector, adding 5 new wires back into the hazard switch, fitting comfort relay into its base already wired into a new cable form, connect the newly populated connector into this cable form and that is that.

This is a great little mod, but from what I read, removing and replacing the Hazard switch on the Superb is quite a task?

In the B5 Passat you just "go in" through the radio - ie remove the radio and the rest of the stuff from the central console so that you have enough room to work. The hazard switch, once again I've only worked on the B5 Passat, can now be pushed out from behind.

Well i've ordered the kit through a mate at audi (

Good enough, I see even these common little Ford Fiestas have the coming home feature! I would think that the "lane changer" relay originally comes from Audi somewhere and its only the cable that is unique to this option kit.

Well it's taken a few months but finally got round to getting the one touch relay fitted. Pleased to say it all works, that was the easy bit! The hard part was fitting it all behind the nav unit! Not much space there and in the end we trimmed the plastic nav cage a bit, ok, quite a lot!!

Good stuff mate.......it's always tight behind any head units but was it wiring that caused the problem or did you have to fit something box size behind the unit?

i turned mine off, bloody annoying if you knock the indicator stalk.

LMAO!!!!

I know what you mean if you knock the stalk but i spend most of my day on the motorway where it's great!

Not much wiring but you have an extra plug and a relay. Would be easy but they don't leave a lot of slack in the looms these days!
