How's This For A Compliment Fabia vRS!

Featured Replies

I don't think I could have bought a better car!

Everything's relative ;)

Chris

The reason I bought a Skoda was I had had 4 VW Golfs in the past, the last of which was a 1.6S Estate Mk4, nice car. However in my youth I had enjoyed sportier cars, I had a Honda Prelude, a Mk1 XR2 and a Orion injection Ghia (if you remember those). the Prelude and the XR2 were fantastic the Orion rubbish but was a fast cruiser.

Anyway my XR2 was stolen from a carpark at Blackpool just as insurance for hot hatches went silly so for the next 10 years or so I bought basic golfs.

I had noticed the Octavia vRS and went off EVO magazines recommendation which said at the time "This is Volkswagen best performance product" I didn't realise and most people still don't that it drives exactly like a golf, but is much quicker, better equipped, handles better and you get all this for the price of a basic Golf Estate. (The above comparison was made against a MK4 1.6s Golf Estate

Re above......which is exactly why owning a Skoda makes me feel smug. Those that know....know, and those that dont.....well dont.

I LOVE the responses like "Skoda, why would you want one of those then??"

Oh how I chuckle

Orion Ghia injection - yup had a couple of them from new - an early one and a late one - scarey/unpredictable in snow/ice extremely fragile/disposable CVH engines - saw the next Ford offering and jumped ship VX and got a very, very nice 6 months old Cav GSI 2000 4X4 - that was the best car I have ever owned - fast cruiser + safe/predictable in snow/ice - reliable. Some how my Passat 2.8 4X4 (imported new) has never really wiped my memory clear of my GSI 4X4 "good times" - its still a good enough car though quite a bit sloppy/soft/rolypoly - unfortunately I cant see that being the case if I traded up to the new Passat - probably get a 2nd hand A6 Quattro next!

New Passat estate or Audi A6 Avant, both are gorgeous. I now have 2 children so either of those would suit me 100% I don't plan on getting rid of the vRS for a good few years though. As for the Cavalier GSi 4x4, I remember seeing one of those new and my jaw hit the floor very attractive car at the time.

I agree, which is why I said RELATIVELY rare.

For a car that only costs about
