My SEAT Leon TDI Sport

I think VAG want to have a word with some aftermarket tuners, more power, more torque and better MPG than a TDi 170 on a 140 with a simple remap!

... or not. Less reason for us punters to go to these wonderful people if we can't pretend the justification is better economy :P

You have to remember that these cars are sold all over the world.

Each country has different grades of fuel, different climates, etc.

OEM manufacturers have to set the standard maps to cover all these global differences in one common map & still uphold the warranty. That means having a healthy safety margin to protect other components.

A remap is optimising the settings to get the best out of the engine & that will increase power & torque. The other bonus is that the engine will be more efficient hence the increase in economy.

Been experimenting with the front grill & badges. :D

I decided that the all black front was too much & wanted something to break up the blackness.

A modified Audi S Line badge was aquired & fitted.

However, once mounted on the car, the SEAT badge didn't look right. So, off came the SEAT badge & now I'm happy again!

Oh, and I've fitted a H7 HID conversion kit. It's not a cheap Chinese version. It's a high quality piece of kit made specifically for cars with Can bus electrics.

The light output is soooo much better, but without being too bright to annoy oncoming traffic.

What's different about a CAN-BUS friendly kit? Is it to do with the bulb failure system?

You've answered your own question.:D The kit is 35W, but there is no bulb alarm or system shut down.

It also has a "soft start" with separate ignitors so it doesn't disrupt the electrics.

Cheers, didn't know there were CAN-BUS jobbies available.

They're not cheap, but you get what you pay for, as they say!

Fitted them within half an hour & fired up first time without any problems.

Looks far better now without the SEAT badge on the grill

Here's a better pic after a good cleaning session:-

I think they looks the dogs doo daas! if i could afford one id have one in a heart beat! 170BHP derv with a remap would do me thanks!

Still not quite sure about the grille change Jon. Agree with the colour change and mesh, but looks a bit anonymous to me.

I might be inclined to try a black sprayed Seat emblem on there?? :rubchin:

I've got a pretty much as new one here, if you want something to test it with - would just need some adhesive or other holding mechanism on it :)

Thanks for the offer Steve.

I've already tried a satin black SEAT badge as you can see from the top pic.

It just didn't look right when fitted to the car.

It looks OK with just the modified S Line badge & it's starting to grow on me.

Jon

I have to say I love the colour coded grille and mesh, lovely. But I'm not a fan of "bespoke" badges, and I think the grille now looks a bit bland, like something is missing.

I'd put the black SEAT badge back on, and take the modified one off... ;)

JMTPW mind, and it still looks smart - as you say it could be a grower...
