My SEAT Leon TDI Sport

Featured Replies

Well, I picked up my new car today! :)

I'm well chuffed with it. Very nice to drive with lots of toys to play with - cruise control, dual zone climate control, MP3 CD player, ESP, electric folding mirrors, blah, blah, blah..........

It's shame the vRS ended up as it did, but I'm happy with the replacement!:D

Anyway, I'll let the pictures do the talking................

I really like the new Leon..... Even the mrs does too..... I've seen a couple of the FR's and Cupra's and have admired them.

Hope the new motor goes well.

Cheers

Dave.

Looking good! So when's the first mod going on? ;)

Brand Spanker Jon???

I wish!

It's a 55 plate. They don't make the Sport anymore as the FR replaced it.

You can however get the Stylance with a Sport pack. ;) Thats pretty much an identical spec to yours Jon. :)

My colleague has an identical car on an 06 with heated seats and cruise as extras. :)

Looks nice

Very Nice.

the new leon is growing on me..... looks good in black....

Not my cup of tea tbh.

A chap at work has one, and although he likes the performance etc, he is still not convinced by its looks.

It's a bit like....

Do you want to shag the fat bird, or the one with spots?

A shag is a shag I suppose, but where has the one with the bit tits gone?

i've still 1 of the old shape leons...

but the new shape is steadily starting to grow on me... :D

Very nice Jon, glad it's all sorted. It's a car that I'm getting used to the look of - didn't like it at first.

Maybe a suspension 'tweak' and some other alloys would be my thinking :D

It's just begging for a set of springs to drop it down a little.

I quite like the standard Sport alloys so I'm leaving them on.

Sticking to black I see, great looking car.

Nice!! My Mrs don't like the Seat range at all!! That is a bit of a bug%%r as I've seen a very nice Leon FR in white with dark graphite alloys at the dealers in Maidstone.

Still I've got time till I repace the Vrs in 2009 :P ( any body seen my baseball bat??? )

mmm.... lovely :D

Nice car Jon.

Shame about the vRS but this looks a nice replacement.

Funny how it gets such extreme opinions, but the mk2 Leons definately look much better in the flesh than in photographs. They look high in photos but actually sit quite nicely in the flesh.

I got back from Ibiza last week and there's (predictably) masses of mk2 Leon hire cars out there and they look great in the sunshine, especially the yellow ones!

I've got a feeling the mk2 Leon will get really popular towards the end of it's life as the styling won't seem quite so avant garde by then, just like the mk1 Leon did.

How long until it's wearing a set of 18s then???? :)

Jon

FWIW, I think the only mods I would do, would be a simple remap, and some Eibachs with FSDs. The FSDs work really well on the Leon apparently. :)

I'm thinking the same myself.;)

Oh, and the armrest is a nice simple mod as well.

A quick update.

Had the Leon remapped on Monday by Simon Coe of Upsolute.

He did 2 other cars at work, so he downloaded all 3 current maps from each car & then sent them to his head office to match up the correct ECU codes & corresponding Upsolute maps.

When they came back they found that the current map on my Leon had already been remapped but badly. Injection & boost had been played around with but nothing else.

Simon said that the previous owner must have had a cheap map from Ebay or something but the Upsolute map would still make a difference...........and he wasn't wrong!!

When the Upsolute map was uploaded on to the car, Simon asked if he could sit in on the test drive.

Even when feathering the trottle around the car park I could feel the response was better.

I took it for a drive on to the nearest dual carriageway to stretch it's legs.

In third gear on the slip road I opened up the throttle & OMG it took off!

Much, much better pull from all gears.

I was a happy man!

Yesterday, I had a chance to drive it on some back roads & 5th gear over takes are soooo much fun now. Effortless acceleration.

It's a shame that the roads are still damp, as the traction control keeps cutting in on low speed "squirts".

Fuel economy is on the up as well. I struggled to get any better that 46mpg before. Now I know that the previous map wasn't standard & was done badly, that would account for the high comsumption. Now I'm seeing average of 53-54mpg on the trip computer. That would probably equate to 49-50mpg average.

I'll see how it pans out after a few tank fills.

All in all, I'm really happy. :)

Excellent stuff Jon. If nothing else, its good news to get rid of a crap map. :)

With this damp weather 1st and 2nd require a carefull right foot but I agree with you about third, when you catch it right whilst overtaking it seems really really fast.

Do you get extra torque over the standard 170bhp version of 350nm as well as the extra 5bhp?

I'm only making around 40mpg at the minute but the car only has 7k on. :(

Good to hear Jon

The quoted torque figure is 395Nm & it feels almost as torquey as my remapped Fabia was (410Nm). But the power delivery is spread more smoothly.

Even on part trottle the response & pull is noticable.
