Think i have just bought a MX-5

Featured Replies

Looks tidy, Nice buy.

I really wanted a v-spec one too. Like i said it has a few things to do. The seat for one. Also the passenger door looks to have been repaired and painted so will try and either source another door or get htis one repaired to a better standard. Also a dent in the underneath of one of the sills.

I think i can get that lot sorted for a few hundred so still chuffed.:)

It's not mint , but for a 16 year old car it's very tidy indeed , and should be great fun for the money.

Right time of year for a bargain as well :)

My thoughts exactly. TBH a mint V-spec one would be probably another grand on top of what i have paid, my budget was 2k, even with the things that need doing i am still under that. In fact i can get my insurance in with that price too.

Most cars of that age will "Need a few things doing".

The trick is finding ones where the "things" are cheap and unimportant instead of ones like "second gear doesn't always work". :)

You could easily run that for a couple of years and not lose a penny on it

Can't argue at that price  Enjoy :D

Chris

I am still not going to be happy until i have collected it. When i went to see it. Me and the guy "discussed" what it would be worth. I mentioned

I had one of these - excellent fun. Best of luck with it.

Just spoke to the guy. Collecting it Tuesday morning.

Bring on some rear wheel drive action

Nice work Rob. Should give you a nice little project.

Seems good value to me that - nice spec and colour too

Just make sure it has some decent rubber on it, as part of your list of jobs on it :) Makes a MASSIVE difference, especially because of the configuration and weight.

Have fun! :drivesaf:

Steve

good buy... hope you get the weather for it... :D

It's all good - as long as it's dry, get the hood down :D

A hat and some gloves, sorted

Steve

Proper two seater sports car:D

Soooo much you can do with that.Enjoy:thumbup:

Had a phone call this morning.

Guess what.........................

The car was involved in an accident just this very morning.

Well thats what the owner says anyway. Personally i think they are just not happy that i got it for

I assume yo have the address details of the cars location. If it's not too far perhaps a little driveby to see if the car is damaged. If not then I'd probably knock the door and front them out.

Unlucky on this one Rob, but you must console yourself with the thought that if they're happy to lie about it being in an accident, what else would they have lied about if you'd bought the car ?

We recently sold a classic car on EBay for my father-in-law. The number of time wasters and total twazzaks was amazing.

I have the postcode and street number. The car is in Stockton on Tees i went to view it whilst having a weekend in Whitby. I cannot really go for a drive from where i live just to see if it is damaged or not. It is about 80 miles each way:eek:

If there is someone on here who is local then perhaps they could do a drive by for me and take a piccy with their phone;)

I think i am going to have to leave them negative feedback, as if i don't then they neg me i won't be happy.

Cant you sue the *******?

Cant you sue the *******?

You actually can , though it's not easy.

First off you would need proof that it's not been involved in an accident.

Then you would need to find an alternative vehicle to buy - as close to this one as possible. You could then sue them for loss of bargain - the difference in the price between the two cars.

It's unlikely to be worth the bother though

You need to research it but there is a trick where you can wait a month or might even be more and right at the last minute do the -ve and they can't retailiate.

I have done it now.

If they retaliate i will comment on their feedback for me and hopefully people will see what a set of lying fcuckers they are.:)

Plus they already have -ve feedback for something a year ago so now thats two they will have.

If my ebay account is affected in anyway, i wil have to use the wifes.

And there's another trick where you can still get in after the end of that period and leave feedback.

Oh , and it's also possible to use some of the far eastern ebay sites and leave feedback with a 120 character limit instead of the usual 80

When he relists it, get a few of us ;) to bid it up to several million. We can make it impossible for it to resell on ebay!
