Handling

The Fabia against the CTR, is really not comparable. The CTR is not nose heavy and is a very light agile car, which is more like a point and squirt action.

Pressing very hard on, can cause the CTR to understeer, but it is more tail happy than anything.

The CTR, has very duff steering, the feedback is very poor, and you can turn the steering wheel quite a bit before you feel any movement in the actual car. It would be alot better if it was more responsive, but it's not :(.

As far as handling goes, the Civic wins this, it is just a better set-up car, which is a few stages closer to the track than the Fabia.

Braking

Because the car is very light, and is not nose heavy, it feels very strong under hard braking, it doesn't dive forward, it's relaxed and carries a better posture. The brakes don't seem to fade even under hard driving, they're responsive and feel just right. But with any car, it could be better.

Power

It sounds like I'm going to be continously biased, but I'm trying not to be, after all. I really enjoyed the Fabia. But it is not comparable to the Civic again.

The Civic lacks the torque figures, but the torque is spread across the huge rev-range. A lot of people will say it lacks torque, and have to rev it to get it to go anywhere, and for me, those are the people who just read reviews, without actually driving it.

How do you get the best from any car? You plant your foot down, and wind it up, it's just, with the Civic, the further up the rev-range, the harder the power gets. It makes a peak power at a certain RPM, but it doesn't tail off, it carries on until the limiter.

More power, lighter, more rev happy makes it extremely quick. Close ratio gearing is another advantage for being quick. Flooring it in a gear and entering VTEC means, when you change up to another gear that your only back in VTEC again. It's a due to drive, and doesn't consume a lot of petrol outside the VTEC zone.

Interior

The interior on the Type-R is a lot better looking. Although the plastics don't seem as strong, and they scratch easier, but the seats are more supportive (especially the Recaro bucket seats available in the Premier and Anniversary editions) the dash board looks a lot more modern, the dials are a nice colour, the momo steering wheel has a great feel, and then there is the gear stick position, I couldn't go back to the Fabia's position, it is definately in a better place, and close to the steering wheel, gives a great driving feel.

Comfort

Not really comfy on long journeys, and the sound of the loud engine on the motorway can be tiresome, but only if you want it to be. At 70 mph your hitting 3500 RPM, and in the CTR that is loud. You can feel every bump in the road on standard suspension and it's worst with anything upgraded.

It has very spacious legroom in the back, and can sit only 4 people, but comfortably. One problem, passengers in the back will often complain that the rear window's don't open on a hinge at the back, and that's true, not very 'passenger' friendly. :D

Costs

Again, the Fabia wins everything here.

Between the Leon Cupra R, for handling, speed etc, even the Cupra R doesn't feel as good as the CTR to drive, it's certainly not as quick standard for standard, and even when modified correctly.

Of course, some of you will say I'm being biased, but I've owned both of these cars for over 7 months each, and that's my honest opinion. :D

Fabia gets my vote insurance wise, tax wise and MPG wise

But why not performance wise, considering your Fabia can out pace one in 200bhp+ form :confused:

At the standard 225bhp The Fabia keeps up with it until around 100+ where the gearing on the diesel lets it down.

The Fabia is a good compromise between Performance and Economy.

I dont see how hard it is to believe a 225 bhp heavier car and a lighter 180/190 bhp car with more torque arent worlds apart :rofl:

Like I said the Fabia VRS is a top notch car and compaired to mine its a load more :D

i think the problem is revs,you simply don't have enough of them,and you don't have enough power to compensate for this,so to put it simply,the performance of your close to equally lardy fabia is in fact worlds apart:)

Put it this way, my Fabia was quite a bit more tuned than your car, with one of the best maps around. And it wouldn't touch my LCR in any condition, up hill or down.

All I'm saying to you is, there's a slight chance, the LCR you were trying against, probably wasn't trying himself.

No,no,no your comparing on theory and your thoughts. This actaully happened and my friend (best friend) came to show me his new car, we then went to another friends house, i followed him onto a slip road and there wasnt much in it.. that was at 270 bhp revo'd, i'd say by ***mph there was around 5 or 6 car lengths in it, so im guessing at 225 there wouldn't be much in it.

Ive just had this conversation with him and he agrees. Say's the Leon would probaly be quicker by around a car length or so :thumbup:

Also in another post, in the spotted section i read a guy from here was driving a 225 TT and said a fabia vrs kept up with it :)... Which is the same engine as the cupra
