I don't think Ron Dennis and co will survive for too long ....could bankrupt the company

  • Author

I dunno, i think they'll be ok with the mercedes partnership. Wonder how this will affect the prodrive entry next year, they are rumoured to be using customer mcalren chassis.

Just feel its a nail in the coffin for F1 as we know it. Once again max mosely and co bending over backwards to suit ferrari.

what was the result? do we know?

Formula 1 died a long time ago. Overtaking only happens in the pits.

BTCC and DTM are far more interesting.

Even enjoyed watching Franchiti win the Indycar this year. Overtaking all the time, wins by the smallest margins.

This Formula 1 season has been the best for years, shame politics has to spil it just when people were starting to believe again.

Yet again Ferrari get there own way  (remember lotus & ground effects for one).:(

Am totally disillusioned with the whole F1 thing & will not bother with it any more.

Feel really sorry for Messer's Hamilton & Alonso, :( :( :(

Hope Mr Ecclestone & Co take it all to China & stay there:finger: :finger: :finger: :finger:

Far more exciting series out there to watch anyway. so :RIP: F1.

.

Wow I knew it would get messy, but this is a tad extreme

Have I missed something vital here? Or is this just about the information on the Ferrari being found in a McLaren's employee's home?

Might be unfair, bit hardly the end of F1......

To deduct constructors points but not drivers points is probably the right decision and as fair as they could be.

The fine does seem excessive though.

Interestingly , I wonder what legal grounds they have to impose such a fine.

If McLaren just decided to walk away from F1 , I suspect they could avoid paying it and then a new team could enter next year

i agree with whats been said here , the whole thing stinks , Ferrari seem to want it their way all the time , what happened when they were cheating at the start of the season with the flexi-floor , nothing , slap on wrist don't do it again

i feel sorry for Ron Dennis , he seems like a top bloke , whether he can continue running the McClaren F1 team after whats happened is anybodies guess

Ferrari F1 team = w@nkers

no legals grounds.. toyota were found to have ferrari docs a couple of years back. FIA imposed no sanction.

spying in motorsport is rife- always has been ... just as in any business. This is just mafia controlled ferrari and Mosley the facist punishing Mclaren-Mercedes for being the leaders of the GPMA that forced more equality in F1 .... and of course which team were not in the GPMA??? any guesses????

still no evidence of Mclaren using Ferrari info has been given.

.

Name in red again I see. It goes to show, it's not what you know ;)

tbh I hadnt noticed till you pointed it out.. it wont last.

I still love F1 for all the technical and engineering finess, the politics of it all pi$$ me off though. I thought Bernie was trying too keep the viewing figures up? seems like the other way round to me :( ................

Anyway Ferarri have done the 2 year old child thing and shouted and stamped their feet when it doesn't go well for them, nice flexi rear wing by the way :finger:

Shove it Luca give me an Aston anyday!

And Relax.............

I am going to be controversial now, and I think that they got away lightly and the punishment should have been heavier.

Now before I get totally slated and shot down in flames, I do understand why the punishment is how it is. The drivers have done a deal with the FIA (on FIA’s terms) to get away without drivers points deduction by co-operating and coming clean on the fact that they had (and still have) knowledge of the Ferrari. The FIA don’t want to kick the drivers out of the championship or the title race as the 4 way fight for the title is worth millions if not billions globally, equally they don’t want to stop McLaren from racing as it has the same effect, even though that was what they said they would do back at the first hearing if they found McLaren had gained an advantage. I think McLaren are glad they are still racing, and if they didn’t have their drivers in the title race, I don’t think they would be racing again this season.

I think it would be in Hamilton’s interest to not become World Champion this year as it will always be seen as the year that an informer with an unfair advantage took the title, and he will be better off doing it next season when its all above board and fair. Let the Spaniard win, no one likes him anyway, so it won’t exactly harm him

$100m is not going to bankrupt McLaren Mercedes, and is actually mostly just their prize money from this season being repaid to the FIA. Not saying its not going to hurt them, but if they had a year last the last few they would not have gained the same sort of revenue in the first place.

PS. I am up for a game of poker if anyone is interested. Only thing I will say is that I will need to know what your cards are before every hand, and I will try not to feel too bad about my shallow sense of achievement when I win.

agreed. If money, or sponsership problems cause mcclaren to leave F1, I would be worthless watching fearrari do a 1-2 every race next year, it was their dissalusioned mechanic who stole the data in the first place! as much their fault as anyone elses, and its still NOT proven any of this helped mcclaren. ferrari DONT deserve the manufacturers world chamionship, because they are NOT as good as mcclaren this year. anyone who knows anything about thetechnicalities of F1 would agree, that every car is dsigned uniquely, you cannot design a mclaren car with 400 peoples, then design a ferrrari car with 400 people, then steal some ferari data and put it on the mcclaren and make it faster, it would undoubtlely make it slower!!!...

its all b@llocks.

ferrari had an unhappy employee... deal with it 9or him) don't ruin one of the best (british) teams out there..... muppets :thumbdwn:

I would say that there is unlikely to be any Ferrari concieved ideas on the McLaren car, but I dont think this is the issue. What is, is that McLaren know what Ferrari were doing down to the small detail and they were then able to determine areas of weakness and exploit them tactically. The emails that are supposed to have been tracked between the drivers were discussing the set up of the Ferrari at different tracks (apparently), that is very powerful information to be in possesion of, and when you are talking about fractions of a second, it can be enough to make the difference.

Mc'claren did wrong, they are being punished for it, I dont see what the problem is?

I'm surprised that Ferrari haven't been penalised for the actions of one of their employees bringing the sport into disrepute. It's all very well to blame Mclaren for what happened, but smoke without fire and all that..

The thing I would love to know is, if the position was reversed would it have even been investigated.

this could be the spur needed for the teams to set up a rival race series, then Ferrari can have it all their own way ....they will be the only ones left in F1
