Octy vRS Colour Dilemma!

Featured Replies

As long as it's blue, no silver, no blue ...........

Be different - go black :D

I'd love to but I just know I'll never keep it clean.

All cars get dirty when they're driven - you get a car to drive not to look good :P

Chris

If that were the case why are we debating colour??? lol

SWMBO thinks it's a turn up for the books that I am taking so long to pick a colour. She says the next time I moan at her 'cos she can't make up her mind which dress to wear to a night out she'll remind me of this.

dark colored cars are (alledgedly) harder to pick a speed reading off of with a laser gun ;)

Although as they'll be pointing the gun at the number plate, chances are the colour of the car will be immaterial ;)

Chris

Black- Bugger to keep clean

Silver- Every other car on the road is silver

Blue- Every other Octy vRS is blue

red- Not many about and looks ok

But to be truely different what we need is

Problem with yellow is that they are usually worth less at resale time and more difficult to shift, though I doubt that that applies to Lambos or Ferrari's.

White looks good on the vRS and I'm sure if you put a couple of orange stickers on the front bumper you could have the outside lane of the motorway to yourself :):)

i dont think that's true any more. like all fashions, things come and go. 5 years ago, there were loads of silver cars about, then it got to saturation point and everyone starting buying black, blue and "gun metal" grey.... which I now see more than ever.

Look at white cars - a couple of years back, VW would never have considered launching their new Golf GTI onto the UK market in white, but now it's coming back around again. It will be the same with silver, i betcha!

Check out these stats from the vRS owner register;-

There are now 205 declared vRS owners. The colour choice is -

Blue - 106

Black - 61

Silver - 18

Red - 13

White - 3

Yellow - 4

Total - 205

Engine preference - TFSI - 141 (inc. those not specified)

- TDI - 64

TFSI to TDI ratio (no. 49 onward) 95:64 - 40.25% TDI

More than 50% of Octy vRS are Race Blue; good enough reason for me to get a different colour; I've got RED.

A black shooting brake for me! Thankyou very much!

What would win in a fight between a squirrel and a badger?

Good description I haven't heard for about 20 years!!

I have a new theory which has allowed me to make up my mind that I will stick with my choice of Race Blue.

As we all know, and as the stats of those who have registered will confirm, more than half of the vRS's out there are Race Blue. That said, the vRS has only a modest share of the OctyII market.

So, in essence, if I discount the colours that I don't want anyway, (Red and Yellow), since Race Blue is only available on the vRS, it must surely be the rarest colour overall.

Mind made up, blue it is. No more annoying emails to the dealer asking him to change the order.

Posh name for an estate car, but I guess you knew that already!:)

You sure? Because lately you don't sound that convinced, you know! ;)

Very clever Chris. To be honest though, despite really liking black, I've ruled it out easily cos of the keeping it cean issue.
