Fabia has failed its MOT

Regarding consistency and whether they take a stricter, harsher look at modded cars, it was interesting to see that they pointed out stuff which Jackson's (Skoda dealer I took car to last year) didn't. OK, the points the recent MOT people pointed out maybe didn't exist last year, but I know for a fact that my bump stops are worn, they were last year and that was noted on the advisory list. I hadn't had anything done to them for this MOT yet nothing was mentioned at all.

So it's not all consistent. Maybe the advisory notes are not "controlled" and it's up to the MOTer to decide whether to mention them or not?

aye, last mot on another car we had, didn't spot the near total lack of engine mounts, fuel leak or a whole number of other items :(

My Octy failed as I had a sticky screen mount on the windscreen, in the swept area (over the vent, so not really in the way), odd then that the blowing exhaust got though I thought.

Well, decided to get the tyres sorted out this morning. Changed the rears so that's done. Also had a look at the front, particularly at the one that made the car unroadworthy and a public danger.

WHAT ?!?

Is that what you call a missing chunk that will make the tyre unmount from the rim?!?

Some MOT testers should either have their honesty checked or go to specsavers, I tell you :finger: There's the slightest of chunks missing, but it's on the "inside" diameter and so the outside of the diameter of the rim where the tyre bonds to is absolutely fine. The scratch is no worse than what you'd get on the outside from gently hitting a kerb.

Even the tyre people admitted the MOT people were trying to pull a fast one. They've cleaned up the scratch and polished it so it looks nondescript now and have guaranteed that the car should not fail an MOT based on the condition of the alloy.

Tomorrow, off to see a certain mechanic and do a full 60k service, cambelt and change bushes all round for powerflex jobbies and sort out suspension, handbrake and bump stops
