Boxter - how fast?

Featured Replies

The boyfriend of a work colleague has a Boxter, its about 7 years old and is a non "S" version. For some reason he seems to have taken a dislike to me, to the extent of resorting to "my car is faster than your 2 door Omega"

So whats an early boxter likely to be capable of, hypothetically speaking, if it were to find itself on a dual carriageway against a "2 door Omega", each with a 30mph rolling start ?

Boxster - quicker than a Fabia vRS, slower than a 2 door Omega.

HTH :D

Just to add, 2.5 is 204bhp and the 2.7 is 220-228bhp.

She has no idea what size engine is in it - she said to me that its black and not an "S"

The engine on the non S version is either 2.5 or 2.7 flat 6, depending on the age of the car. 7 years old is most likely the early version of the 2.7.

The 2.7 generates 217 bhp (162 kW) for around the year 2000. The engine was revised in 2003 to generate 228BHP. The 2.5 is far less at just over 200BHP.

Do you feel special now ?? :P

It'll be like the start of Fast anf Furious:Tokyo Drift. - him in the posh biys car and me in the mildly modified saloon.

I found myself behind a Boxter drive by a mate of mine yesterday at a set of lights.

He floored it and we were away!

I short shifted into second and stayed with it no problem :)

On talking with him after the event, he said that he expected me to pass him....

The early 2.7 is 260Nm at 4750 rpm, the 2.5 is 245Nm at the same RPM.

Always a good start when you spell the name of the car right.

You'll be OK until you come to a bend :P

Both 27 - though I dont see what that has to do with anything

I reckon it would actually be pretty close to sixty then its about a couple of seconds behind to 100 (appreciate that is a lot) and they both have the same top end.

Mind you the porker doesn't get Sean Paul on the CD and dancing hand puppets free with his car;)
