Featured Replies

I have started my big brake conversion on my Fabia vRS. here are a couple of pictures of them.

They are 312mm in diameter for an Audi TT.......

Good luck mate. Mine are Audi TT calipers and the discs are 312mm, they only just go under the wheels as the standard ones are 288mm. The work well though. Just 146 miles to go before i can really find out.

I'm curious - do the Audi calipers bolt straight on to the existing carriers? So, the bigger disc is actually already set-up for the geometry of the caliper? But they look good indeed, and as you say, there's not a lot of room for manouvere in there. ;) At least I can still get my hand between disc and rim to wipe them down. :P I shan't be doing anything like this for a while yet as I've only just fitted the DS2500s and I'm getting prepared to give them a hammering! :D

(BTW - I think the piccies are a bit too big in size - they only half load for me, then it stops - might be worth resizing them by 50% and re-hosting them. )

The standard calipers will go straight on the audi tt carrier.

dunno if its the same for you jason... what size are your brakes?

Ive got proper Octy RS green ones too :D

What pads are you using? ive got some ds2500 and some std 312mm discs to put on.. thing is need to go gentle on the discs.. and hammer the pads... this will be fun. lol

They EBC discs fabvrs. Think i'll be doing my brake upgrade after the National meet. Been checking out the salvage yards for some bent TT's.

Believe it or not they are standard TT pads as I didn't see the point in putting the Greenstuff on till they were gone!

Dude that looks sweet!!. You say you got those discs from Graham Goode, where is this?? Did you do the conversion yourself, if so, was it easy to do?? and how long did it take you??

Graham Goode is in Leicester, I and 2 friends did it, 1 of thenwas a skoda techie so he knew what to do! And it took us about 2 1/2 hours.

Nice one, i might have to get me spanners out then!! :D

Erm no they wont, not on the Fabia.

You need the caliper and carrier as pictured.

Im doing the same for Colin G tomorrow, might do a bit of a how 2.

Whatever you say

cant wait to get them on.. and see yer car too :D

So... lemme get this straight - you need Audi TT carriers and calipers to bolt onto the Fabia (hub?) and then the 312mm disc is a "standard" disc for this carrier/caliper combo? And, I've not seen if you guys are all leaving your standard rear brakes setup, and just doing the fronts?

PS: I'm STILL not doing any imminent brake upgrades, even though this looks as sweet as!

and COL?!!! What happened to "Col_G will be driving the only standard car on the 24th!" ?? HAHA!

:finger:

:P - had to be said... No doubt you'll utter some comment of mine with my first mod after the trackday!:D

I'll definitely be driving a standard car on the trackday - our good friends at Direct line have seen to that with their 'no mods under 25' policy... :(

just won front and rear EBC std pads on ebay, for £30 posted, not bad? heard these arent the best EBC pads but gotta be better than on my car just now, squeals like mad. and the pads and disks are cheapy, these are brand new and surely being EBC they will be better than most cheap pads out there?

feel like im gonna get shot down as i did read that the red or green ones are best but tbh, for £30 for both front and rear i couldnt say no

I know they were cheap, but you should have gone for Greenstuff or if you're going to map it (I'd imagine you will), Redstuff, or even Yellow if you're planning to regally do Trackdays. The standard (Black-stuff) will be OK for the rear pads if you have Green fronts. Never put a better pad material on the rear than the front.

Most Fabia Owners are not keen on EBC Greens, however I've got Greens all round and the car stops perfectly well.

i wont be doing track days in the fabia, put those pads on tonight, they have a red face, maybe red stuff? just says on the botton something like grooved and chamfered, there alot better than what was on, noticed instantly on first press of brakes. so im happy. full brakes and discs changed for £55 or so. :) got front discs off my mate who used them for 1000 miles or so and then he upgraded and they are like new, so he gave me them, win!!

I would imagine that are painted all black and when you took them out of the box, it's only the pad surface was red. This is 'EBC’s unique BRAKE-IN coating for super quick pad bed-in'. Redstuff pads are painted all red, (except the stick on black shims).

This is Redstuff: http://www.ebcbrakes.com/automotive/redstuff_brake_pads/redstuff_brake_pads.shtml
