Remapping

Featured Replies

hi there everyone hope you are all ok this is my first post yippy!! picked up my gorgeous 06 red vrs on friday and it is without a shadow of doubt the best car i have ever had and it feels the quickest (i know it isnt on paper but its how you feel that really counts he he) returning 52mpg is simply awesome!!!

anyway thinking of remapping my little beauty but has a few questions:-

1) obvious question are angel tuning or jbs in chesterfield any good for remaps? angel are the cheapest and they come to you which is a very good service.

2) warranty - will this be detectable and what components on the car could be affected by the increase i.e wear out quicker i am only wanting to do this nothing else so what are your thoughts? can the dealer ever reset the modification to the ecu by mistake or intentionally in the work shop?????

3) seat covers - can you get genuine seat covers for the front seats???

cheers everyone thanks again

Hi there and welcome to the site.

A search will provide endless reading to all of the questions you asked. ;)

And to make a comment on Q:3, leather is 'the' answer to the stupid white seat problem. :D

Welcome

With a remap on the diesels the clutch is going to be the weak point ;)

Make sure they don't go to mad on the torque and you should be ok for a while(Depending on your driving style)

1. Can let you know about JBS in a few weeks once mine has been in!

2. As before clutch is the weakest point

3. As previous post, leather is the answer, search for Seat Surgeons.

1. I can highly recommend JBS, I don't let anyone else touch our cars.

2. Others have said the clutch is the weak point but it doesn't have to be a problem with the right map. Our 'old' (Still in the family though) Ibiza PD130 had custom code phase 2 from JBS, it's currently done 130k on the original clutch, around 40k of which has been whilst remapped. Clutch should be find as long as you don't drive lazyily e.g. flooring the pedal from too low revs in a high gear, it's tempting to do this as there's plenty of torque but that's what will kill the clutch.

cheers everyone many thanks for your help so far....so its only clutch to be worried about and if driven properly should have no problems excellent news..what about the warranty issues will a garage pick it up on normal servicing? can it be reset by a main dealer?

i would love leather but cant afford it do they do seat covers?? also leather is heavier for acceleration ha ha :)

If you can find somebody else who wants a remap JBS are doing 2 for 1 on all remaps on the 20th of this month.

I think sharkrider has an Angel Tuning remap on his punto and is very happy with it, I'm not sure who might have it on a furby though.

cheers mate many thanks for that just need to find someone now he he what do you think about my warranty and the dealers then??

Depends on the dealer, many will just turn a blind eye as they get paid anyway, custom code do offer a switchable map but you'll need vagcom to do it. Just be aware that skoda read these forums and have been known to instruct dealers to void warranties so just be careful what info you post on here.

you want to get your car re-mapped outside your house? madness

Why ?

Many people on here have done this and are delighted with the results.

i'm up for having my car remapped on the 20th if anybody else wants to

well after my experience with a certain company ill just say theyre cheaper for a reason

That as may be and of course you are entitled to your opinion based on your own experiences, but then many, many people on this board have had their cars re-mapped outside their houses by Angel Tuning and are (as evidenced by the subsequent numerous comments posted on here) apparently delighted with the results and I include myself in that having had both my car and SWMBO's car re-mapped by them.!.

I have never before heard of any (substantiated) complaints about Angel Tuning or any of their re-maps & indeed with the number of positive comments on here about them I feel that your experience (as was touched on by you in a previous post whilst not going into detail) was apparently not a good one but it seems to be very much in the minority. :(

All I can say is that your using the word "madness" to describe Angel Tuning re-mapping vehicles at home is not one I would have chosen. I was delighted with both the cost and the performance increase of their maps and if I was going to use the word "madness" anywhere it might be to describe the post re-map performance !

I would not hesitate to use Angel Tuning again and I would & have recommended them to others with absolutely no problems.

I guess that in any business there will never be 100% customer satisfaction so I am genuinely sorry to hear that you may have had a bad experience with them it's certainly not good to hear but I must say very unusual for this company. :(

PS In case you are wondering, I'm not in any way connected to Angel Tuning I'm just one of their many satisfied customers (in my case twice) & sorry to hear of your bad experience !

i didnt have a bad experience with AT, the chaps were really friendly and i got along fine with them, its what actually went on the car i disagreed with when i saw the map in detail, unless theyve changed the software i will not be using them again, thats all ill say its unfair to go into detail when they arent here to defend themselves

Glad to hear that, it certainly echo's my experience.:)

cheers guys forall your help would you then choose jbs or angel tuning?? do jbs set the car up on the rollers or just do the same as angel tuning???

So, you'd prefer to get your car remapped to a Dyno/Computer which are generally known to be accurate, have great figures?

Mapping a car .. to the road, and test driving it, is a much better way of mapping any car, whether it's outside a tuners workshop, or outside your house.

A clear Dyno run after that is fine, but mapping a car on a dyno, is not mapping it for you!

thanks very much mate i was just trying to find out the difference between angel and jbs in terms how they complete the remap? which would you choose jbs or angel??

I see nothing wrong with mapping a car outside your house, after all they're just uploading a new software to the car. Doesn't matter if its done in a workshop or on your driveway.

As for generic or custom remaps, I don't see any point in going for a custom remap unless you've made some big changes. As standard its got a generic map on it anyway.

I had my Fabia VRS re-mapped by Angel Tunning outside my house for £300 and i am chuffed to bits with the results and would reccommend them to everyone. They are a very professional company with years of experience who have re-mapped thousands of cars (Fabias included) with excellent results. This is one of many satisfied customers. Do a search on angel tunning re-maps and read about all their other happy customers.

Hi Guys

P-Torque are offering members our mapping for the special price of £275 all in, including and engine diagnositcs check before mapping is carried out. We usually charge £345 all in for this service.

We are also currently offering the re-map + before and after runs on our Dyno for £300 all in.

Once mapping is complete, as well as the Dyno run, the customer test drives the car before going home to ensure they are 100% happy.

Please feel free to search other VAG forums and have read of our customer testimonials.

Ive no problems, and I paid £340 with them 2 years ago.

i had my a3 remapped on a RR aswell as taking it out for a quick road run afterwards and letting them know my feedback for some tweaks, the figures i believe were a bit optimistic, we all know the quattro is a bitch to gauge effectively on an RR lol, it came out at 225 and 230 torks, but id say it was more like 210 and 240, i regret not asking them to up the boost but hey-ho
