best time to buy a octavia rs???

Featured Replies

seriously thinking of buying an rs,are skoda bringing out an rs version of the new octavia?is there a release date for one ?i would hopefully pick up a current model version 2nd hand when the new one comes out.but i hate waiting.

i understand that there is a 4x4 version of the 20vt octavia, is this the 180bhp 20vt version and is it only the estate version?

also what are the TDI versions?110,130 150 would be nice.

is there any common faults in this car i should be aware of?(i know of the dreaded VAG coil pack issue)

any help at all welcome

 Welcome from another Jason.... All I'll say is I hope the forename curse doesn't spread from me to you, with respect to car destruction. :D

All Skodas are equally good, despite what we all say on here, and I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever engine / model you decide upon!

Most 4X4s are the estate version. Skoda UK did start selling the 4X4 hatchback in (I think) 2002, but not for long. There are some around, but they are rare. The 4X4 hatch is still available in some continental countries, though.

All the 4X4s have the standard 150BHP 20v turbo, but these can be reliably tuned to over 220BHP, just like the vRS.

cheers for the replies, the only underlying thing about the RS is that they are holding there price well in the 2nd hand market, which for any buyer is a bad thing, great if you own one.

not broken a car yet jason, and its not through trying,i guess i'm just not that good at it.

the hunt goes on

Check out the "For Sale" forum as there's an RS on sale at the moment.

Welcome to Briskoda,

well at my local dealer,T.A.Porter and Son near Colchester Essex has a 4x4 Hatch in Metallic Blue and a WRC Octavia vRS.

don't know the prices but they are very good examples.

6 possibly 7 grand,so i would imagine i'm way under for a good one, there are some reasonable seat leon cupra 's coming through at the mo ,but has a smaller boot(i am allowed to say leon cupra on here am i;) )

if you wanna cheap car and dont need the boot the leon is ok

i'm currently in a seat cordoba 16v and with a new baby and 5 year old,the boot is essential.

Just out of interest the new Octavia is it just a face lift or is it a new car underneath? (ie based on the new Golf chassis)

Just wonder as I'm think of maybe going for the 130 Tdi instead of the furby vRS. My other options would be either a Seat Leon (nice drive) or a Ibiza both have the same 130 TDi units.

Sorry if is off topic slightly

New car, based around the floorpan etc of the BRAND NEw Mk V Golf. By all accounts, it's a much better proposition though...

Difference between a 130 TDI octy and a Furby vRS? Well, Boot's bigger on the Octy and it is a bit bigger on the inside.....But in terms of engine etc, no difference at all.

Looking around at the 2nd hand values,. the Skoda will hold it'a value better than the Seat.....

Buy the Octavia, you won't regret it. And buy the diesel....

The vRS Octavia II isn't planned for release as of yet, they will carry on some of the Octavia I models until 2005. The hatch will only be available intially with the estate being released early 2005. We then say goodbye to the laurin and Klement spec :RIP:

Well I'm going to try and get a test drive of the octavia this weekend, at the moment the Leon is on the top of my list as it's a nice drive and more the size I'm looking for rather than the Furby. Is it worth the wait and go for the new Octavia or to try and get a corking deal on the old one?
