Tootal Depends on your number of laps :p

Total estimated miles covered 2,767 but when budgeting for fuel remember your mpg will be down ;)

In the event that there is also Cz trip taking place I am planning on setting off on the Morning of Friday the 5th of September allowing anyone who wishes to travel from Zell am See to Prague in time for the Sat. Dosky meet:P and join up with that.

As it stands the route (exc. UK and Cz) is approx 2767 :p miles. I am budgetting on accomodation in the region of 400 pp (hopefully will be cheaper but we will be staying in Cannes on a Saturday night:eek: ), road and bridge/tunnel tolls 200, + spend + meals. So for 2 people in a petrol Vrs bank on approx 1300 per person.

The trip will consist of early starts and many hours of hard driving on some of the finest and most challenging roads in the world, for this reason it is soley a driving holiday and no side trips/excursions are planned with no free time during the days other than photo opppurtunities and rest stops.

If there are many people interested then unfortunately there will be a maximun number of places available due to restraints of accomodation probably 8 to 10 cars in total. I will not require a minimum number to organise this trip as I want to do it myself in anycase:P

Again this is only a feeler thread at the moment but would like to give interested parties the oppurtunity to start saving, and envisage having to start looking to book accomodation early in the new year, at which point a non-refundable deposit will be required.

Please Note:

If there is any difficulty in finding suitable accomadation the Overnight stopover destinatons are not set in stone.

If any of the routes mentioned are impassable due to inclement weather/ road closures alternatives are available but may not be quite as scenic (tunnels etc:O )

This trip is not organised by BRISKODA and is not an Official BRISKODA event usual disclaimers etc apply.

I welcome any comments suggestions but would point out that adding extra roads/ routes could go on for ever and imo think what we have should provide an entertaining and worthwhile experiance. If you are seriously interested and will be able to do this please add your names to give me some idea.

Individuals will be responsable for arranging their own medical/health/travel insurance....a must in the countries we are visiting, also recovery cover for their own vehicles in the case of breakdown or accident, suitable vehicle insurance and meeting the laws of the country being travelled through. Whilst i will provide a route for each day and endevour to have everyone stay together it will be the responsability of the individual to make it to the evenings accomodation, sat nav with european maps is reccomended, at the very least a good map (neither of which is provided:P)

Inteterested yes; £1300 will have to see when the car insurance comes out.

Wish you well trying to organise that, sounds like an epic

I am interested to , but until next september you never know !

Might be able to manage this one :)

count me out cant justify 1300 in my household sorry.

Interested. Will book that time off work after new year, so any changes of dates I would appreciate very advanced warning as the holiday sheet fills up mighty fast!

Can I be a passenger? Or does it not work that way round? :D

Having looked at the plan, looks like a cannonball/gumball type event to me ;)

I'm interested anyway :)

As if he wouldn't want to drive lol!

It was bliss when you fell asleep :P

It was my body's coping mechanism :P

Pat - 3600 miles for us northerners, in 9 days, in a Skoda. Gonna have to say it seems a bit much tbh.

Gumball/Canonball is 3000 miles, usually done in a very high powered fast car, in Stuart's case a very fast Skoda. Id be interested in his input in the milage and route before I commit if I'm honest, as I think a convoy of cars doing so much distance in so little time might not be as easy as you imagine. Just my 2p's worth. And Im quite often mistaken lol.

PS Thanks Len, but I'm kidding. As Loz says, something I would have to drive myself.

No problem Dave :)

He just shut his eyes because he couldn't bear to look where he was going :P

yeah, yeah, funny :P

I have to agree with Shifty... it sounds an awful lot, although I haven't mapped it out yet. I like driving, especially on interesting roads, but I think that would be too much for me without enough rest days. And the slog to Dover as well :(

Mileage wont be a problem if your disciplined, I went to france with 15 other cars a few weekends ago, we left Friday 3pm, back home Monday 7pm, 1940 miles & had a great time with loads of time for socialising & drinking :thumbup:

Anyone whos driven on the Continent will tell you that driving is so easy as long as you avoid Holiday time etc, Cities are like cities anywhere but certainly no worse than the UK. On the Motorways you can cruise at 80 legally & 90 - 100 dosent attract too much attention, if caught at that speed the fines arent too bad.

If you drive at high speed you knock the MPG & have to refuel more, its suprising how much distance you can cover whilst others are refuelling, On the Cannonballs a lot of the Exotics could only do 200 miles between refuelling so whilst they went like the preverbial they were for ever filling up

As I said you just need to be disciplined, fuel the cars just before you stop for the night, leave on time in the morning, dont try & stick together, run ideally in groups of 2 or 3, 10-15 cars trying to stay together, especially through towns is a no no, 10-15 cars refuelling at the same garage with all the chit chat can take an hour. Also big groups attract the Police. If someone has a problem dont all stay to help, it only needs a couple at most. If the whole group stops everytime something happens it just adds hours to the trip. Whoever goes make sure you are totally self sufficent, prep the car properly before you go, preferably a full service 3-4 weeks before, time to fix anything they find & time to find anything they fooked up on the service.

All people need to know is where they need to be in the evening, a suggested route & "possibly" a suggested town to stop for lunch.

ALWAYS get a decent recovery insurance & read the small print, make sure it includes a hire car, make sure you can take the car from country to country, some of the cheaper ones only allow a flight home, some only give a car for up to 3 days. The Skoda one through the AA only gave 3 days hire & you had to pay the rest. I did the P****D off customer bit to Skoda UK when the Superb broke & they paid the rest. The RAC one now used might be better but I doubt it.

With all Governments appearing to be anti car it wont be many years before trips like this cant be done & Im guessing only a couple of years before points can be awarded for motoring offences comitted on the Continent so if your thinking about it dont leave it too long.

Ive done 4 Cannonballs, 2 Furballs & will do the Furball again next year, its probably going to be September so it precludes me from joining you but Im happy to give advice any time.
