Try the RAC route planner RAC Route planner Or AA route planner Route Planner (Europe) : Maps and directions - The AA I've been using the AA road atlas of Europe but don't have the kit to scan maps.

In the event that there is also Cz trip taking place I am planning on setting off on the Morning of Friday the 5th of September allowing anyone who wishes to travel from Zell am See to Prague in time for the Sat. Dosky meet:P and join up with that.

I would imagine there will be more interest in joining a Prague trip in Prague for the Skoda meet than just for the trip home, and this is reflected in the proposed dates for the road trip:thumbup: Don't know if anyone as put themselves forward yet for the organisation of a Cz trip tho (well volunteered :D)

no probs, just my 2 pence worth:thumbup:

cool, countries I've never been to aswell!! :D

No using the Mt. Blanc Tunnel, col des Montets, col de la Forclaz.

Slightly shorter and we get to go through a big tunnel :P

Oooh, just looked at the map, we'll be that close to Italy... can't we just 'pop' to Milan.. pleeeeeaaaaaassssseeeeee

What do a bit of shopping :P

Have arranged to have hols with hubby so I can go on this trip and get the bejeezus scared out of me , just got to get rid of sprog and dog now. Any volunteer babysitters out there? Rates of pay pretty good :)

What do a bit of shopping :P

A 'BIT'?????

Mark, the word 'bit' has conotations of meaning a 'small' amount... There would be nothing small about the amount of shopping facilitated if we were to stop in Milan LOL!!

Honestly... men

(and it's only about 100m out of the way (judging by my rough estimate on looking at said map ;) )

Hayley, this is a car forum - we don't do shopping! Go on your own girly holiday if thats what you want to do!

That meters or miles, and bit can mean large or small, I guess that is down to the person involved :P

I take it you will be taking an Octy/Octy estate or a Transit van for all this shopping then. :P

Been having a quick glance at Hotels available in the towns we are hoping to stop, With a bit of luck there is only Sion where we may end up a couple of km away. Some of the places don't offer an inclusive breakfast that fall into our price band, others we can get a bit cheaper if everyone is ok with 6 to a studio apartment. All in all hopefully we should have some change from £400 pp without slumming it. A couple of the places I have looked at even have swimming pools (Emily don't see your name down yet :D)

I agree with Stuart_J about driving on the continent being much more relaxed and when he says you can cruise at 80 that isn't usually restrained by the if you could ever get near that speed due to traffic rule :)

I'd be interested, lots of time to try and save up.

Geez, lighten up :irked:

If you get really desperate to kill a credit card then I am sure Cannes will have plenty of retail oppurtunities on the Saturday afternoon/ evening :)

:D:D

Why thank-you :)

The beauty of this kind of trip is you know where the hotels are, if you fancy going somewhere specific on the trip then plan ahead & when close divert off on your own & do whatever you want, then make the hotel in the evening, dosent matter what time you get to the hotel & you can join the group for the next days start. With the standard of continental motorways playing catch up is so easy.

I diverted to a little town in the alps one year to meet a M8 for lunch & still caught up in time for the eveming meal, now that was a fun drive.

These trips should be a bit of an adventure, if its all pre planneed to the last detail & you run round huddled up in a pack you might as well have a whip round & take a coach
