why arent octavia vrs's selling?

Featured Replies

I'm just hopeing it wont be long till there cheap enough to be used as donor cars, so the 1.8t can be put in something that deserves it, like a mk 2 golf.

There was one for sale via autotrader which I was about to look at but had sold within a few hours of being listed. Prices asked seem to vary, some seem overpriced for their miles.

I'd use autotrader, saves answering countless keyboard warrior PM's who just seem bored.::rolleyes:

Is anyone ever taking note of asking prices? Cos I always take them as a guide price and would phone the seller and see what his flexibility is on it. Or would you just not bother in the first place? Genuine reason for asking :)

Genuine reason for asking :)

Perhaps nine thousand reasons for asking...............?????

If I see a high asking price I don't bother to even enquire. If its 2 or 300 more than I'd be prepared to pay then yes but more than that, nope.

Take mine for example- originally up for £7k, max I'd have gone to would have been £6600 (as it had 11 months tax) so I didn't bother looking into it further. A couple of weeks later the price dropped to £6750 so I had a look and bought it for £6500 :)

I asked the guy about the price and he said that he wasn't really looking for £7k but was expecting people to put in silly offeres so overpriced it by a couple of hundred.

EDIT- to add to the above, my favourite sales are where the seller prices it keenly from the start and says strictly no offers. Everyone knows where they stand then. Unfortunately that isn't the traditional way of doing things so you have to play all these silly cat and mouse games :(

I think this is 9 out of 10 times the case... Including mine I have to admit

That's how I sold my previous car... But that was easy to price up.

Good points sir
