why arent octavia vrs's selling?

Featured Replies

there seem to be a few about (mine included) which aren't shifting. anyone know why? they are good value for money, anyone in the trade know why?

No idea

Some of them are so well price I was even thinking of selling mine to buy another one (Nice IHI version :D )......but then no point as mine probably would'nt sell

The reason i found them not to be selling was that owners over inflated the value to what THEY thought the car was worth. I bought an 04 80k for £5800. I looked at a 51 plate with 49k that was in way near the same good condition and the owner wanted £5500 minimum. That owner was a car enthusiast and the owner of the one i bought was just a regular guy that wanted a motorway cruiser and saw that the depreciation was really starting to hit due to the mk11 octavia coming onto the market in droves.

i would have thought vrs octys would sell. weve got 2 mk1's in and they have had plenty of interest (in fact ones now sold, you know who you are :D)

I think it dependes on the area saturation, where i live they're arent that many so they sell quick some other place have to many its all depending on the local car market at the time you sell. Plus interest rate have gone up this year so markets tight for most things anyway

yup, ive seen a sharp drop in people wanting finance now. it seems most people are only spending out of savings to avoid anymore debt

i'll buy someones VRS if they buy my Evo !!!!

Your evo what?

A salesman at Slacks (M/bro) told me Sept had been a poor month for car sales.

He also said its not just Skoda either, most of the other dealers in the area recon things are very slow.

Thankfully I have no plans to sell my octy vrs for at least another 10 years.

Fingers crossed........things might have picked up by then

bill.

Your evo what?

Mitsubishi Evo 6 - 360bhp - more when meth inj is activated......

its also not long till crimbo so people are a bit more carefull with there cash

I had massive problems finding a decent one in my price range before i found the one i've got now.

In the end i did a 300 mile round trip for mine and i'm so glad i did!

[Fingers in my ears] La La La im not listning

Its bad enough not getting any interest at all but

I dont even want to sell my VRS

but i know its just not quite big enough in the back to be practical

for 2 booster seats and a baby carrier thingy

When shopping for mine I found that every vRS I looked at fell into one of two catagories- Shed or massively overpriced.

People seem to forget that near the end of their run they were knocking them out for less that £14 brand new, so when people are asking £7k for a 6 year old one with 70k you have to wonder what planet they are on.

I paid OTT for mine but it was a good time for me to buy and more importantly a good time to get shot of my old one. Was in good nick though so the fact it was a few hundred over book price didn't bother me too much. I probably would have waited if I knew people would be getting desperate to shift them now though.

EDIT- Just checked autotrader and still nothing worth having near me for up to £7k so probably best I didn't wait :P

I'm looking for one at the mo, BUT... Purchase money at this time of year is short. Running costs appear to be more than I'm use to so need to take that into account, petrol costs aren't helping matters: I currently drive a Diesel.

I still want a vRS, I just can't justify/afford one at the mo!

I sold mine in 10 days, got a price I was happy with and the buyer has been very happy with the car. Just luck I suppose and finding the right person at the right time.

I was gutted I missed out on yours :(

Mine has been up for sale for a while - first person who came to view it put down a deposit...then phoned the following day saying he had an argument with his other half and couldn't continue with the sale!

So if anyone's interested, it's a silver 2005 Octavia vRS 1.8T, 13000 miles on the clock, asking price £8750

Just wait till they hit 4k , then they'll be snapped up in hours and will be found on McD's car parks all over the place

Awesome, can't wait :P

Without wanting to take this too off topic, may I ask about your creaking Octy? Just wondering because the steering on mine now creaks like a bugger and wondered if you had any info on what it eventually was and what cured it :)

Suspension arms fixed it , but I think there's a different set of creaks for the Mk1

4g would suit me fine! My limit is 5 max, given the increase in insurance, fuel and

servicing costs! Anyone fancy selling theirs for a discount... ;)

i reakon its true what yellow taxi said earlier it all depends on the area, ive just brought 1 of the very few in norwich
