Octavia vRS 1.8T Red Dot racing remap

Featured Replies

see now you have me worried lol. eventually ill pop into jabba but so far the car has been sweet since we regulated the boost a bit

Imo Generic maps that are made for standard cars do not run at best when put on a modded car.

Eg. when you start adding things like 100 cel cats and non resonated systems the turbo spools up quicker than standard and the map/ecu is not expecting this, hence surge.

I think this is where my original surge may have come from.

I maybe wrong though:rolleyes:

you're wrong mart LOL.

Surge can be mapped out, but it shouldnt need to be.

I didn't say I couldn't. I said:

I don't know that any of the top tuners have had a problem with surging on 1.8Ts for some time now

Now if you care to link to a thread from someone who's just had their car mapped by one of the recognised tuners, and who's having a surging problem, that the said tuner has had the opportunity to fix, and hasn't been able to, that will obviously correct my statement. I don't think there'll be many, though! There's always an exception that proves the rule, but on the whole, I think it's not really an issue these days. Am I being clear enough?

he cant cos they aint there....

:)

Use the search button. I dont see why I should do your work for you :)

Its all immaterial to me - my car doesnt surge anyway.

So, you claim it's all over the place, but it's my job to verify your statement for you. Then you say your car doesn't surge. What experience of the surging problem do you have, exactly?

I personally do not need to explain anything to you.

I however have driven a car that does surge, and also my own, and a customers car (Leon 1.8T) which also doesnt surge.

My experience of "the surge" is limited having not driven many, but then why would someone bring an already mapped car to me to map?

So, it sounds like you're a tuner. Have you ever mapped a car and had a problem with surging? If so, was it recently? If not, would it not be fair to say that surging problems are generally a thing of the past?

Do you do home grown maps, or are you an agent for a larger organisation?

I found threads about surging & spluttering (one is even a sticky), but I dont see these are all as a direct result of remaps (recent or otherwise)....

My RS isn't remapped, and it spluttered occassionally, until I cleaned the throttle body, then all was fine.

Adoks srv was mapped by star performance does this count?

Mine is a diga-tec file which is a well known file company.

Also vrs180 had a problem and his was a Jabba map http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octavia-i/old-hesitation-after-remap-problem/93515/2/

All of which were cured by different solutions.

Believe me this is still a common problem there is a 17 page thread on the cupra forum about surging/hesitations.

The thread you directed me to was full of people who were changing items on their car (DVs and N75 valves) after the remap. Each and any of these can affect the way the map performs. I would contend it's better to contact the tuner and let them rectify it first, before changing components which alter the characteristics of the engine that the map is trying to control.

so after my previous post would you now agree some are still getting surging issues after a remap, even the well known mappers.
