oil light alarm flashing

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

The oil light has started flashing with a beep sound 5 seconds after the ignition is on

but when the engine is started it goes out the oil has been changed

a month ago with the service and

the level is fine would it be a sensor for the level cannot see any

noticable leaks. it is a 51 reg 1.4 16v classic

regaurds mark.

Do you mean the oil indicator light is on prior to starting the engine or on once the engine is started. If it is the former then that's to be expected since the engine needs to be running to drive the oil pump. This should have always been the case though?

I think you might find it is the Coolant Low light. There are always a few posts about this every Autumn at the first frost as Octy expansion tank sensors are known for it.

Do a search there are several posts about cleaning the sensors.

Hope this helps:)

it is the oil light prior to starting the engine when all the other warning lights go out as normal the oil light come on starts flashing you also get a bleep sound when you start the car proper it clears it has never done this before i have had the car for 2 yrs

there seems to be no leaks as i can see and the oil level is correct

thanks in advance
