Reccomendations for a car for my father please

The ones I have driven in PSA cars are not noisy and bearing in mind BMW are using if for the mini I can't see it being particularly noisy. I mean 110bhp from a 1.6 is a good power output too. I actually found them a lot quieter on the motorway than the 1.9 PD105 and TDI110 i have driven.

I have to agree. Had a 307SW with the 1.6HDI as a hire car in Spain, and I liked the engine. Very petrolly and high revving, and no noiser than my 2.0TDI.

OK, strange car with steering wheel on wrong side and driving on wrong side meant it probably didn't get as much stick as it would at home, but I was happy enough with the performance. And, try as I might, I couldn't use more than half of the tank of diesel I was forced to buy.

Just a shame all the panels rippled every time you shut a door

i'm lovin the new polo bluemotion, bit out of price range though at 10/11 qrand new, only a few second hand ones about but no road tax and 75mpg!

Although the spec is a bit poor for the money and I'd be wary about buying a town car fitted with a DPF....

As long as you don't want air con... that moves you into band B

Kia Ceed or Hyundai somethingorother, massive warranties and huge year 1 depreciation. If he's just an A to B motorist then nothing else comes close.

Never mind all the stuff about Focuses and the like; from one oldie (60+) to another, indulge yourself, get a Fabia vRS. It ticks all the boxes.

I promise, you'll love it!!!!!!

Right just driven back a ford focus 1.6 TDCI... even with only 5 gears it was driving around town and cruising on the ,/way at the same speeds I do in my octy.

It is MUCH quieter than any PD engined car I have been in.

Father and neighbour also agree that it is really refined.
