engine swap 1.4 to 1.8T

Featured Replies

what i need to do if i want to change my 1.4 engine for the 1.8T 20V of the octavia. i want to know everything wiring loom, transmition, engine, ecu and other stuff that i'm going to need, i have seen an fabia 1.8T in the gallery of this page www.fabia2000.de and i wanted to do the same, help me on that and of course the price of all the parts.

Haven't a clue I'm afraid but welcome to Briskoda.

Some very nice motors on that site! FabiaTDi will be wiping the drool off his keyboard.:D

You could speak to Awesome Gti. They do 1.8T conversions.

A snip at

I thought about doing this myself, but have since decided to go a different route. Was quoted about 6k to do the conversion by TSR about 2 years ago. I'm now going to try to mod the origional 1.4 16v engine.

A turbo conversion is available for this running .8 bar boost and giving 160bhp. With a few internal engine mods (cams, forged pistons and conrods) could get the boost up to about 1.5 and hopefully get to look around the 220bhp mark!!

mmmmmm. Get asked what u got under the bonnet after leaving most things standing. Then reply 'only a 1.4 m8! he he! :D

hey fab16V can you give me some details about that turbo for fabias and how much is going to cost you, it would be funny that some one ask you after you leave then beging what do you have under the hood and you say that it is still an 1.4 jjajajaajaja:cheers:

dont use the "small" 1.8T with only 150/180 hp. use the 225 hp 1.8T!

It is available from TSR in somerset. Cost is

Hmm...160bhp from the 1.6... :D

Wonder if that's just on the 16v...not that there's much point

in me asking, not like I can afford it...

talking about this, i can use the turbo that comes with the 1.8 engine and adjuste to mi engine? this is posible i just one to study all the posible options to produce more power to my car and i'm talking about betwen 180hp and 230hp.

And don't forget, the 1.4 weighs less than the 1.8T with ancillaries ergo better performance :D

One thing to note, getting 180+ from a 1.4 does impact driveability (or I would assume it does and I'm quite happy for anyone to prove otherwise :D )

I would love to know more about what you could get out of the 1.4 16v without going with the turbo option. Could you let me know some details please? :D

Its a 215 bhp conversion that Erik is offering :D

Or if you go for a 1600 its 232 :D

Still reckon it would be "peaky"! What does it rev to Erik? 7500? 8000? :D

Mmmmmm. 215 ponies from a non turbo 1.4! Can you imagine the amount of people that would annoy. He he. With the added bonus of no lag. :p

erick tell us more about what are you talking about, $2500 and the same power that a turbo engine but without the turbo. please tell me more about that conversion, everything you know

Throttle bodies {nice induction sound :D}, management, cams, head, verniers etc. Revs up to 11500rpm if you really, really want! 160 is totally road useable 215 isn't as docile but is great fun!

160 is attainable without too much work and keeps stresses to normal production engine level, should have a demo engine in a Polo by then middle of next week :)

erick can you send me your email, i have to discuss something. i dont live in UK i live in dominican republic (caribbbean) and i just wondering where i can get all the parts an for example of what type of cams, head etc are we talking about, especial ones or form another engine, my cosen is one of the best mechanics here and i need your help to know how i can get all parts without going out of here or without need to shiping from there, but if the only way i can get those parts is buying them in the UK and bringing to me here i will do it. but please can you be more especific of what i need to do. please men i need your help. i wanted some much to do this modificacion to my car. my email is [email protected]. sorry for my english still learning. thanks bro.

That sounds like a mighty engine! 11500rpm. WOW. Would love to have a go in the Polo demo once it's up and running. Think I have to say though, the 160bhp sounds about right for the road at the moment!

:drive1:

When are you thinking of getting it done? I might be able to get parts to you very cheaply ;)

What can you get done locally? Could you have everything machined, ported flowed etc? Plus everything put together?

You'll really only need to get the more 'trick' internals from us, I'm sure there's plenty of management systems etc available out there :D

My e-mail is [email protected]
