thing I like about that video, is the fact that clarkson does the whole race with his elbow on the windowsill ! lol.....

While Hammond was wrestling with the steering wheel......................

Couldn't agree more, I'm bored of reading posts of this ilk recently. If people are so against the Furby then go post somewhere else (vauxhall/honda/renault/citroen/etc. etc. forums).

Sorry to sound rude but a lot of this slagging off makes for tiresome reading.

tbh just recently i have been tempted to leave this forum for this reason,i still am looking around for a good vag owners forum to be a member of,you try posting a negative comment on one of the other sections tho,you get jumped on instantly.:thumbdwn:

:agree:

Yup, me too. The E36 forum I used to use for BMW stuff was much better in that respect. You didn't have people who didn't own Beemers coming on and slagging them off, and people even respected the merits of the lesser powered ones (including M3 owners as they'd come from originally running around in such things). Most of them aren't the fastest things on the road, the owners knew it and readily admitted it, including being beaten from the lights etc. Sure, when someone came along with a 316i and claimed to have beaten an M3 they were flamed, but it was brief and it was mainly the M3 owners doing the flaming. Then the mods stepped in, locked the thread and it was all over.

I'm only a newby here (ish), but I agree with Chrispy's comments above. There does seem to be a fair amount of other marque/Skoda model owners hanging around on the Fabia page and inflaming things a bit.

I've checked out the other models' pages and it seems only on the Fabia section is it ok to post derogatory posts about the car the pages are about.

I know it's not the greatest car ever built but us owners on here love it for what it is. If you don't like them then please think before posting as the Fabia pages are for, yep you've guessed it, Fabia owners who do tend to like them.

We're all (mostly) Skoda owners and have to put up with all the 'heated rear windscreen' and 'rubber band engine' jokes so I'd think we'd stick together a bit more for our insider knowledge on decent cars :thumbup:

[* Yep, I've had a few, it's taken fookin ages to type this but I'm gonna have another one. What's everyone having? ]

Of course, to make it fair it would have to be a remapped mini.

Don't be silly. It's not fair to modify the Mini. ;)

I agree - we seem to be having a few posts where people have been taking personal swipes at Skoda owners (just enough to try to irritate, not enough to get banned).

see: Troll (Internet) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is a Skoda forum, many Briskodians know and like each other, and if someone has their own personal issues where they feel the need to attack/insult etc perhaps they should take them elsewhere....

Back on-topic - wonder what would be the result if the match-up was between a fully modded mini and summat like the Mongrel?

Is Jasons car on your mind when you sleep too? You are obsessed FFS.

I agree, personal insults are not neccessary.

I rest my case.

the fully modded mini would destroy the fabia.

what wouldn't destroy a fabia, honestly i would be interested to here.

my octavia in its current form :D

as standard a cooperS is quicker than a standard fabia vRS so both mod'd the same i think the mini would improve more than the fabia.

I agree, took on a modded cooper works on the A811ring and it was an impressive wee car, I dont go around quoting BHP and torque figures but lets say the fabia was above average modding figures;) and probably worthy of some sort of pet name but i find that a bit :gay: ;)

The cooper accelerated harder, cornered flatter and was good on the anchors all in all a better car.

As for the fabia bashing posts, I never reply to them, i accepted the car for what it was, an economical cheap car that had a bit of poke and would do me for 100k miles, in my mind it was never a hot hatch and those that tend to get wound up and drawn into conversations about it in my mind are naive, the people doing the baiting (Regularly) are obviously doing it, in a light hearted manner i believe, for reaction, and those that argue give them just that.

just make sure the octy is ready for trax,i fully intend on keeping my promise, you will be humbled:rofl::rofl:

Remember racing a standard cooper in my CRX a few years back. Round the twisties it was actually very impressive and did a very good job, but in a straight line there was simply no contest, I left him standing repeatedly. He only closed the gap on the corners as he was prepared to push it harder than me in my rusty old G reg heap. :D

just make sure the octy is ready for trax,i fully intend on keeping my promise, you will be humbled:rofl::rofl:

many won't believe me but i would love to be humbled by your fabia and if you were to trounce me then i wouldn't deny it or make up racing driver excuses as i have never done this and find it tedious and childish as being beaten is being beaten :) but judging on past efforts it hasn't happened yet and it would take quite a modified car to match my quite modified car.

either way it'll be a giggle and we will all laugh and talk about it for hours after

hours, more like months, unless i humble you that is then it will be years:rofl:

Ill have some of that too

Look forward to seeing that..lol

Mavis showed a clean pair of heels to most of the Fabias this year so the Octavia shouldnt have to many issues next time.

And the we hate Fabia thing stems from the fact the site was in exisitence long before the Fabia vRS (maybe even before the Fabia) so a lot of the founding members were Octavia (vRS) owners. Then the Fabia vRS was launched and the site was flooded with owners ranting on how wonderfull this new little car was and how it would beat anything on the road.

I guess it just got a bit boring pretty quick.

That's all well and good, but the Fabia is the most popular forum on the site and the majority of the members are fabia drivers.

The problem is that Fabia owners can't do anything without being reminded that Fabias are:

a) for ch.avs

B) for stupid people

c) for people who can't afford anything better

etc etc etc

as standard a cooperS is quicker than a standard fabia vRS

And a fair chunk more expensive, no?

This thread has run it's course guys and you know it.

Closing thread, see reported post for comment.
