Standard Silver Radio Surround - Anyone Got One Spare?

Featured Replies

Ok you guys I fancy changing the radio surround on my Mk 2 4x4 from black to silver to brighten up the interior a bit more.

So... Has anyone who has changed the radio in a VRs got one that they would be willing to sell as I understand the dealers only seem to be able to get black ones and I can't be faffed to spray one up.:rolleyes:

Cheers!

Have you tried to order a silver one? THey aren't very expensive.

Yeah but the deealer was being thier usual useless self and couldn't seem to find the relevant code!

Any ideas... I'll do a search but I guess that the end code is different for the silver vs black.

Do you have dual zone or climatic?

It's a 4x4 so dual zone as per the VRs from recollection

I can see two possible numbers -

RS with Climatronic - 1Z0 858 069 J 2AU

RS with Climatronic - 1Z0 858 069 N 2AU

No clues as to any differances other than it's PR code related. If you want to PM me your chassis number I can see if the PR codes are on yours.

Ok I'll have a look for the chassis number when I can but in the meantime does this help...

The three digit codes for the air con and radio note

9AK = Climatronic with impact pressure control free of cfc, and

8YH = radio, version 1 (ie Stream MP3)

Thanks

RS with Climatronic - 1Z0 858 069 J 2AU (9W0 9W5 9W8)

RS with Climatronic - 1Z0 858 069 N 2AU (9W2 9W4)

9W0 = without car phone preparation/installation

9W5 = car phone preparation

9W8 = car phone preparation

9W2 = car phone preparation

9W4 = car phone preparation

So I would say the top one myself.

and if all that fails I've got the old one from my car ;)

I would have thought everyone would keep the old one alongside their spare HU for refitting back in prior to sale.

The differences is that 1Z0 858 069 N (9W2, 9W4) have a space on the right side of radio for installation of mobile phone holder 1Z1857269. If you don`t use dashboard phone holder, you will need 1Z0 858 069 J

Uh - good point :o

Offer withdrawn :rolleyes:

£15, that's all they cost. Don't pay anymore.

Thanks for that little Jack!... always good to know what the going rate is prior to visiting the stealer!

Agreed Stu. Keep it for selling the car on.
