The old hesitation after remap problem

Recommended Posts

martziniuk, do you think this could help my surging also?

£40 for the valve, does this also "up the boost" by 1-2psi like the J version is meant to do?

I have no idea Ethos, its seems to be a lottery as to who gets lucky and who doesn't with these cars.I know that changing the n75fs around on mine made a difference but who knows what a modified n75h will do.

I think it is a case of some small glitches not been sorted when you have had it mapped apparently a local tuner near me reckons that there are maps within maps within maps on the VAG system and you have to have it done right to clear the problem so better off going to a reputable Vag specialist tuning shop ?unless you already have of course and then that blows this quote out of the water ha ha

The fact that this can happen to standard cars would make what you say incorrect.

Also, people have used the same maps on other cars without fault.

I have been speaking to one of the UK's leading tuners and he finds some cars have the problem, and some dont.

Its just one of those things im afraid.

For future searches....

After days of searching the web,Many questions, many vag-com logs and many attempts to cure my hesitation, I have now cured the problem.

I think the thing that i think really made the difference was either new Denso Iridium plugs or a set of new coils.

Although the problem was solved i still was not happy with the acceleration that was given.I had already bought a new n75f which made the car surge again and my old n75f seemed much better but not as pokey.

I then purchased a n75J which i had heard good things and bad things about. When this was put on the car came back to life. The valve gave a good kick when on full throttle which tapered off to meet the requested boost given by the ecu.The valve also seems to very slightly hold more boost than the f valve throughout the whole rev range, this was backed up by vag-com.

Iam once again a happy chap and am loving the vrs once more :D.

Since having my car service last week, I have lost both my changing gear judder and hesitation.

It was close to 18K from the last service though.

Drives like a new car again now.

Great news iam pleased for you, do you think it was new plugs that helped you then?

I've always found a new set of plugs works wonders in making any car feel healthy again. Certainly did on my octy in the summer

Well its fixed my hesitation is gone, the ECS race n75 valves seemed to have done the trick but to be honest all the trouble ive had after the map im really not all that impressed with them! ive ended up having to spend money over and above the remap cost to fix problems that the remap caused as it also caused my coils to fail which meant a hefty garage bill to replace them all so all in im not too impressed with this remapping business, wont be doing it on any future cars anyway. Anyway rant over, hesitation gone..solution ECS race N75 valve lol!

Great news, iam really pleased for you.

Iirc you had the exact same problem as me full throttle hesitation. Also strange is that new coils and plugs fixed mine and a different n75 fixed yours.

It just goes to show what fickle engines these cars have.

Glad the ECS N75 valve sorted your motor as it did for mine.

I already changed plugs, coils some time back with little results. With the new TIP, the N75 works very well.

De finned the airbox at the weekend which seems to have made another slight improvement. Car is running very smooth at the moment.

How are you guys finding the ECU n75? They claim an easy 10bhp from it, which seems a bit hopeful.

Seem's to peak alot higher, which could cause some turbo damage to already mapped cars. The chart below shows a 5psi increase

How much did you pay?

All the ecs n75 will do is possibly give a larger spike at peak boost.

As the vrs gives max bhp at around 5500 at which time the n75 has dropped to the specified boost levels set by the map i cannot see how this could be.I could possibly see a 1-2 bhp increase but not 10.

I looked into this and found out that its a modified n75h

This is the cheapest i have seen TTS ECS N75 Race Valve Group Buy - SEAT Cupra.net

Its a fortune from the states.

Give it a go i would love to hear/see some logs from the valve just to prove me wrong:).

So hows everyone getting on with this, just thought id see how people were getting on with it and give a bit of an update on how mine has been since the fix......since fitting the ECS N75 my car has been running great and still is, very very very occassionally i get the very slightest of blips at higher revs but even then its nothing like it was before and like i said its only very rarely it happens. So the ECS valve was the cure for me :thumbup::thumbup:

Well as of late i have started to notice mine starting to return a little. My original fix was iridium plugs which helped alot but i feel they maybe wearing in.

I will judge it over the next few months and decide weather to get the ecs n75 or an electronic boost controller.
