I never get a jolt when letting off throttle at all.

I Wounder if i disconnect battery again and maybe it could learn the values again.

  • Have a look on the US MKV forum, understand you have a MKI Octy but you may be interested to know that the TFSI engine has similar issues..........they also link to MKIV forums so will be worth a look

  • Ace keep us updated mate. I've got a stratmosphere DV on mine at the mo so might be keep to swap it for another DV if it does the trick.

  • Think F is the latest one, the J is similar to the ECS one causes boost spikes,

Update:

Cleaned and realligned the throttle body today, no difference to surge but hopefully a bit smoother to drive.

Going to test martziniuk's N75 tomorrow. I've also noticed that it's doing it mainly when I actually LIFT OFF around 3k.... 3rd gear seems to be the worst :)

What spring are you running in your dv Ethos?

Just the green one at the moment.

  • Author

Sounds like over boost which is often related to dv but if you have green spring in it will probably rule that out.

Today i have been doing some vag-com runs with blocks 118 (n75 check),115 (Boost readings)and 002(maf check).

I have posted my results on the seat forum as they seem to be quite clued up on vag-com. so far the maf has been looked at as a culprit even though the readings are good.

Oooh, link please.

Also would be interested how logging those groups will show up errors...

ok my car has now started misfiring,i presume its the good old coil packs and was my hesitation possibly an early sig of these going?

  • Author

Or it could be the maf in your case. This can also cause missfires.

You need it checking with vag-com to be sure.

Coil pack no 4 was knackered, got it sorted no more misfire but still very slight hesitation.

I may hopefully have a solution to my problem.

There appears to be some oil on the standard turbo intake pipes. The oil is around where the rubber part joins to the metal pipe and where the metal pipe joins to the turbo.

I have read that if the turbo is sucking air in through the leaking joint then the air would not be going through the maf and the fuel air mixture will be wrong. Hence turbo dying off at max load due to less fuel/air being put into the cylinders.

This problem may have highlighted its self after remap due to more fuel/air needed and joint being put under more pressure.

The Ecu will try to compensate for this but only to a certain point.

I hope iam right.

I would urge the rest of you to also check standard tip's for leaks.

I have asked farther christmas for a new silicone Tip...so fingers crossed;)

Ooooh, good going mate :)

How did you have a look at this, from underneath the car? Is the oil on the metal part?

  • Author

Yes it ran down from the connection which joins the rubber hose to the metal hose. The hose is visable from above at the back of the engine bay.

So no need to jack it up? I'll have a good look at this tomorrow.

Tempted to treat the car to a proper forge TIP for £120 odd after xmas....

Does insurance need to know? Cause my old pipe might be faulty? ;)

Good news! I hope this is your problem!

  • Author

Me too,yes i would imagine insurance would need to know as its classed as a performance upgrade.

I suppose i could just change my standard pipe for standard replacement........na don't think so :D

I had a word with my mapper today and he was stumped by the prob as he has used the map 4 or 5 times before with no side effects. He suggested everything i have done so far but not the tip. I let him know tonight so hopefully he will get back to me.

Found this on the Elite dubs site:

VAC Leak – A VAC leak will cause un-metered air to enter the engine and it will run lean. If the air is not measured by the MAF then the fuel will not be injected. The O2 sensor will compensate for much of this, however it has limits. To check for a VAC leak, log block 032 and check the idle fuel trims. If it’s more than +2% you probably have a VAC leak somewhere. Check hoses and connections for loose clamps of cut hoses here are come common areas for VAC leaks.

Turbo inlet pipe not secured, DV line leaking, Crank case breather Y pipe split, Line on Fuel pressure regulator gets worn and leaks, intake manifold gasket can leak, and PCV line under intake manifold leaks. To find leaks some people spray ether, or starter spray around in the engine bay and listen for changes in idle speed. If you get a change from spraying in a certain area look for leaks there.

It explains it a bit better than me

Oooh, might log block 032 and have a look at that then.

Hmm, shame i'd have to tell the insurers :(

hasnt someone already posted on here sayin they have a forge T.I.P and still have hesitation??

FIRE is the only word that springs to mind.

It would appear there is no specific answer to the hesitation problem.Any leak on the inlet side would cause this problem,it just happens that i can actually see where the leak is taking place....hopefully

FIRE is the only word that springs to mind.

and invisible flames too if memory serves - or is that just ethanol?

Well i checked all the pipes from the turbo to the throttle body for leaks at the weekend.I found no visable leaks.

If my newly ordered Tip doesn't work i may invest in a pressure tester.

fingers crossed.:)

Anyone else making any progress?

I contatacted the tuner who done my map, star performace one of the partners of this site so a reputable outfit, and described the problem. I was told it is just normal behaviour after the map and nothing to worry about.my mate had the same issue on his remapped ibiza cupra but it was solved by upgrading his N75 from a C to an F but the octy already has an F and from what ive read going to the N75J causes more harm. Nothing new here i know but thats the info i have gathered so far.

I had recently started to get some kind of Hesitation when accelerating hard in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. After reading your views and comments and reading a view links on the other forums mentioned, I bit the bullet and purchased a race N75 valve from ECS tuning in the states. All I can say is what a difference, boost comes on more quicker and no hesitation through the gears that the remap seemed to cause.

Best mod I have purchased fo some time.

Rgds

Did you get the N75F?

Did it do it under part throttle?
