Recently on Top Gear, Simon Cowell pointed out that Clarkson actually knows little about cars. Having watched an old episode of one of his 90's car shows on channel Dave, I think Cowell has a point.

The show was all about supercars, and must have been first shown in the mid 90's when Bugatti had just been bought by VW.

Clarkson claimed that Ferrari would never make another supercar, Lamborghini were as good as dead and Bugatti would be making nothing but luxury saloons.

oh god yeah, i'm not knocking him as he is a good presenter and done alright for himself but he still doesn't know diddly about cars.

but hes not said anything about a fabia 2.0l taking a mustang like a king, up hill and in gear... so it must be true!

Yes its brilliant, they are rerunning Bottom.

JC is successful at acting like a buffoon and has a certain wit about him. Surely he must have picked some knowledge about cars up over the years.

He seems to prefer his boats these days though....

I love some of his off-the-wall similies - he could give JR Hartley a run for his money with some of them!

Someone quoted one on the telly recently and noted that the only problem with the description was that he didn't know if that meant the car was good or bad

hes been doing top gear for years im sure hes intelligent to pick up a reasonable knowledge of cars!

but that not what clarksons about! you dont have to know the technical stuff to enjoy cars. he certainly loves cars, its his passion and that shows when hes behind the wheel of a greatcar. hes got he best job in the world imoa and he knows it!

anyway do you really think he writes all the dialogue? maybe the top gear biys wrote that stuff about ferrari?

i agree,but he does know a little about making bucket loads of cash:D

its obvious he knows nothing about cars when it gets to the weekly challenge. the one from the last series where they drive from bristol to slough along the a4 and one of the challenges was to do a service on their car.
