Had a look at a Black Octy vRS today...

Featured Replies

OMG.

It came back HPi clear, had low miles, was cheap (that was its down fall, but hey, 70 miles away, worth a look right?).

Anyway, it'd been in a front end bump of sorts, as the bumper strip was missing, passenger side indicator glass was smashed (both parts in the car), passenger side wing had moved back and out, the rear bumper was ready to come off, plastic trim inside the car was coming off, needed a VERY good clean as well. The rear drivers door had dropped and was scraping on the sill, causing rusting.

I was totally disappointed, and had any of this been told to me in my various phone calls to them today, i'd of saved my time!

Hopefully gonna catch a train this weekend and look at one in the south!

Snap! :D

but how cheap was it?

i know this will upset people but the vRS is only a tarted up normal octavia, nothing actually special about it. if your planning on buying a car and keeping it standard then go for it and get a vRS but if your going to change things like brakes/suspension/remap etc then why not just get an elegance or something?

  • Author

it was £3995.

Blade, nice :) do you have an Octy or something else?

Bengie,

The vRS has 180bhp and a better engine than the Elegance.

Plus I prefer the vRS interior, wheels, brakes and its cheaper to buy a vRS with all the bits on it already, than it is to do it all to an Elegance.

it has the same engine and only a different map to an elegance, they remap just the same :)

thats what i was saying though if your happy standard then its a good buy but a few people have bought them and fitted a new interior, wheels, brakes, exhaust, turbo, intercooler etc etc so there was no need to pay more for the vRS.

personally i don't like the vRS interior as i think the white/silver is stupid and isn't going to last 5 minutes without constant attention and being very careful, and the leather isn't leather :P

the elegance is higher spec'd too ;)

What is the difference between the two specs?

I will be keeping the vRS pretty standard, except a few tweeks.

vrs has bigger wheels, bigger brakes, lower/firmer susension and 3 spoke steering wheel. elegance doesn't have the fake part leather but has side airbags, electric windows all round, sunroof, arm rest, esp(well the 4x4 does i don't know about the FWD).

the seats in the vRS although not super supportive are better than the standard ones in the elegance.

as i said which to buy depends on your plans for the car i think.

Blade, nice :) do you have an Octy or something else?

No.. I did have a Fabia vRS... now I have something abit quicker... ;)

Nice, though I'm a Cosworth man at heart rather than an ST man.

Have you had it tuned?

Surely not? :eek::rofl:

vRS has elecy windows all round as well. It also has a different sized front arb to help reduce understeer.

If your buying new an ST is the only option atm though... :)

It's still standard atm... ;):D

I knew you'd be able to see straight through such an obvious lie... :P:rolleyes::D

I'd never buy a new car - even if i was made of money. doesnt make good economic sense unless you intend on keeping it 7+ years.

you have a pm btw blade ;)

I looked at used ones but with the discounts being offered on new they didn't make alot of sense...

At least thats what I keep telling myself, I could just be addicted to buying new cars :D

So the Elegance has the AUQ engine in as well as the vrs?

I didn't know that.

really starting to get hacked off now.

all the cars I look at / call about are either dogs or have more miles than I want it to have.

Travelling isnt an issue, so why cant I find a decent vRS???

FWD Elegance doesn't have ESP, however does have black carpets and climate control as opposed to plain A/C as well as an arm rest and a fair few `luxuries` not found on the VRS.

If it was my money I would buy a 150bhp elegance, get the seats I wanted, get the suspension sorted (most VRS owners do this too), get 4 pots under the 16" wheels on the front.

I would think that a heavily modified elegance would actually be cheaper to insure than a heavily modified VRS although I could be wrong.

A lot of sense in that statement, if I was in the market for a mk1 and had mod's on the mind, I would be trying to find a good clean 1.8T 4x4 and take it onwards and upwards from there. :)

Is Quintens monster still for sale?

How much are you looking to spend fella, have you had a look in the forum for sale section?

If Q's is for sale, it's a LOT of car for the money.

The only thing missing from the vRS is the armrest, it does have climate.
