Hello to you all

Featured Replies

I am new to this so here goes.

I should also mention I am of "mature"years, so take pity.

I bought a new Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi in July of 1999.I have driven it every day since (practically)I now have 208,000 miles up and it is still driving sweetly. It passed its NCT (Irish MOT) recently, and does not have to be retested till July 2009.

For the first time ever it started to overheat slightly today, but by keeping the heater on full and the windows open...PHEW.. I got home with no trouble. On investigation I discovered that the radiator was cold but the hoses were hot, it is full of coolant, and the radiator appears quite unclogged....any help anyone.

Thanks.

Welcome to Briskoda Pat. Your problem sounds like one I had a few years back which turned out to be a stuck thermostat. I'd try that first as they're not too expensive.

Best of luck.

Hi Pat,

As Octav.ed said put it up on the Octy or My Maint. section as it will get overlooked on a Hello post.

Btw You have a PM

Hiya.

Agreed that the thermostat's the most likely problem; If it's not that then I think the plastic water pump impellor strikes again!

Welcome :)
