Well we expect decent updates. Goodluck!

I'd recommend acupuncture for HWMBO's pain & discomfort and may she recover soonest.

As for the Octy, I hope it's damaged worse than is evident from your photos ;)

A little update:

We heard from our insurance co. today after demanding a sitrep.

The Octavia hasn't been assessed as yet because after numerous letters and phone calls to the other party he still hasn't replied, they are going to try again tomorrow and if there is still no joy we are straight down the police station.

I don't know where he lives but I DO know the whereabouts of his workplace so I am VERY tempted to go and see him myself but I am holding back as it could have all sorts of implications.

It goes from bad to worse.

Instead of visiting him in person why not write to the employer citing that you are unhappy with their lack of response.

Edit - Cancel that, just re-read that it was a galaxy and not a company van.

Not sounding good that. Good Luck trying to get results though...

The offending vehicle being a Sharalaxy doesn't stop it being a company vehicle rather than private transport though.

I agree but for some reason I had it in my head that it was a Transpit when I first wrote the post.

Best Typo ever!!!

What makes you think it was a typo??

He didnt say he knew where the guy works but the whereabouts of his workplace.

It could be that the other party is having his vehicle assessed or the insurers are waiting for the statements/reports from any witnesses etc.....

When my car got "sideswiped" I didnt need to demand updates etc...

I sent off alll I needed with a statement, little drawings other parties details and they done the rest.

Although they bsent me updates after my car was fixed which weren't really necessary.

But I'd advise you to keep any reciepts like insurance excess, courtesy/hire cars so you can recover these.

I needed to send off the receipt for the coutesy car (as it was the garage I needed to pay the excess to) for my insurers to refund the money

The Insurance company have his home and work addresses, they have written letters and made multiple phone calls and had no reply. It could be that he is away on business, away on holiday etc.

The insurance company have advised to wait until Monday evening and if there is still no response the police WILL be involved.

2 Weeks today and we have got nowhere

Oh well, at least SWMBO has one of those posh AUDI cars to pootle about in :D

So is it the Insrance company going to be calling the Police then?

I did have a friend who had an accident in a car then his parents helped him dispose of it to avoid getting in trouble.

Sorry for the scare story.

I have heard a fair few.

Like people following too close then hitting the back of the car. Or waiting for people to reverse out of parking spots, or even driving slow themselves so your car hits theirs when they brake hard. etc

This being cars with single occupants and then finding 5 people claiming for whiplash........

Most accidents involving a tail shunt implicate the driver following to be at fault. Mrs. Dstev2000 was the shunted car...

It would appear that the galaxian driver is in complete denial about the whole thing if he's ignoring insurers letters etc. unless, as you say, he's been on "holiday."

sorry to hear about this mate. i will find out my my SWMBO who she used to sort things out when her car was hit by a driver who then left the scene but was seen and his reg number taken.

she went to the police who did nothing. so she rang a company gave the reg details and within a few days had got in contact with the offenders insurance company, got her a curtesy car and shipped her car to a body shop!

the cars about done now after 3 weeks and its looking great so the company didnt skimp on the workmanship either!

The Police should have intervened and charged the other party for leaving the scene of an accident

But glad it all worked out.

HURRAH!!!!

We now have his insurance details and an admission of liability after the Police issued a producer on the *******.

We can now get on with the matter in hand and sort out the car depending on the damage assessment.

One question:

What did the other a$$hole think he would achieve by not admitting liability and generally avoiding our insurance company? all he has done is add 2 weeks worth of Audi hire to the bill that someone has to pay for eventually.

Over the last 2 years we have been involved in 3 non fault accidents and ALL THREE of the other parties played silly buggers with the insurance details and every time it's been a knock on the door by a police officer to make them submit their details.

Glad you can now get the matter sorted and in motion.

Will be a good thing should there be additional claims ie injury.

How is SWMBO now BTW? Neck/back any better?

Getting better thanks, still sore and undergoing physio three times a week but she is back at work. The Physio reckons another 6-8 weeks for a more or less full recovery but that's not set in stone as is the nature of neck injuries.

Good to hear.

Hopefully you've registered, and will/are claim for the injury.

It's worth getting the physio to write an assessment at the end of treatment. Many whiplash injurys recur. The time between can vary, but who will cover this bill? If you have private med insurance, they'll likely exclude cover as it was a car accident. I know from seeing an osteopath earlier this year how expensive it can be! Had some flairups due to the cold, so will be needing more sessions!

All the physio is private so that will be claimed back from the other party. We will get a full patient assessment at the end.

Only just read this. Hows things now? Any progress yet?

We have now got the other parties insurance details and they have acknowledged they were at fault.

The car was taken away almost 3 weeks ago and we have heard no more on that front. This should change next week as things will start to move albeit slowly.

I can't see much happening this side of christmas though.

I wouldn't expect hearing any proper updates until mid Jan 2008 to be honest at this point.

It'll be like trying to find a Nintendo Wii or DS with it being xmas. Minor car park scrapes etc and people claiming. so major claims will be placed on a back burner to get sorted in the new year probably.

You haven't had to give the Audi back yet have you?
