F**king Great!!!

Featured Replies

What a perfect end to a perfect week.

SWMBO got walloped by a Ford Galaxy while waiting at a roundabout, hit it good and proper as you can see. The crease in the first pic is what worries me but the spare wheel well is undamaged. SWMBO is fine apart from a sore neck so it might be an A&E visit in a bit.

Let the insurance fun and games commence

Ooh, that's not good! The C pillar's part of the monocoque, so if it can't be jigged, it could be expensive... :thumbdwn: At least your other half wasn't seriously injured, so 'every cloud'...

 dont like were that crease is m8. hope wife ok  her neck will probably b worse l8r tho . :(

The crease is worrying me quite alot at the moment, the damned car is only 4 months old :thumbdwn:

Ouch :( Definitely get SWMBO to A&E because her neck will get sorer :(

Hope the car gets sorted out quickly and efficiently - at least liability is pretty clean cut.

Chris

That looks worryingly like a re-shell.

Flippin' heck! Sorry to see that...

That looks like a fair bit of contact

Glad everyone is ok, and fingers crossed to a quick and hassle-free resolution

Cheers guys. SWMBO is in a right two-and-eight over it as it's her pride and joy, I think the Galaxy walloped it at a 'roundabout approach' kind of speed as he was looking right and saw it was clear and went for it. Shame he didn't see the bright blue stationary car in front eh :(

From seeing a few cars, I'd say that was a write off due to the fact that rather than re-shell a car and be left with a load of rattles etc to fix they will just replace it with a new one.

If the car is on finance now would be a very good time to check out the GAP insurance and your main insurance to check for new for old in the first year cover.

I'll forward the link to a friend who is an assessor see if they have time to have a look.

Regarding the wife, I'd definitely get her to A&E as when i got hit i felt fine until a few hours later. It started to twinge so I went to A&E where there was soft tissue damage. That ended in 9 months of physio and a pay out to cover the cost of that. If you don't see a doc ASAP you might lose the right to a pay out to cover any medical costs incurred.

Hope she is ok and well much as I hate to say it, the car can be replace :(

EDIT:

More I look at it the more certain I am it will be W/Off and sold on as is.

If you look at the pic it appears that the boot is damaged and the exhaust has been hit quite hard. That means there could be damage to the engine. That plus for the C pillar to bend like that means a lot of energy had to be dissipated somewhere in the car and I would think there will be damage to the floor pan.

I'm glad to say I insisted on GAP insurance for the car for such an eventuality. I am off to A&E in a few minutes to get her neck checked out.

Good luck and if the doctors suggest paracetamol and ibuprofen, from experience ask them to give you a prescription so you can get the big ibuprofen and a reasonable quantity.

I had something a lot stronger, so I really do hope she is ok and feels better in the morning.

Will do.

Some Dihydrocodeine would be nice.

 I would get your Wife to A&E asap, she will get very sore :(

ouccch, sorry to see that mate, hope you are all ok,and yu get sorted out soon.

Does look like a hefty whack that - I hope the boss is ok mate.

Sorry to see the car, but its only metal and can be replaced. Concur with other comments about A&E 5 hrswait? to make sure and its on record. That said hope it is only pride that is dented. regards to you both

sod the car just glad your missus is ok:)

k:)

Glad you and the missus are Ok.

Whats SWMBO?

Looks like a small crease by the door unless i'm missing or just not seeing something in the first pic?

How did the Galaxy fare?

That looks worryingly like a re-shell.

Do they even do that any more? I'd have thought the labour cost would be prohibitive.

I had similar damage repaired on my A3- but it was a 3 door so the ripple was along the rear quarter. It came out with jigging and was perfect afterwards- the only way to tell was the paint looked too new compared to the rest of the car (it was 6 years old). Nearly 4000 quid to fix though. It had rippled the boot floor too.

Whats SWMBO?

She Who Must Be Obeyed.

From seeing a few cars, I'd say that was a write off

Can't agree more - I think that is a definite write off on cost grounds

SWMBO = She Who Must Be Obeyed :)

It's more the location of the crease that is cause for concern. As Mark says, it could well point to energy being dissipated throughout the car, and causing further problems. Looking at the pictures again it's a fairly focused amount of damage, so perhaps the car's sustained a higher force of impact than if the Galaxy hit the bumper square on.

Steve

Gutted for you both, hope swmbo is ok, a friend of the wifes had something similar and her insurance insisted she go to A&E and claim off the 3rd parties insurance for injuries sustained.

Ohhhhhhh :o

The Airbags didn't deploy did they?

Ohhhhhhh :o

The Airbags didn't deploy did they?

I doubt it- they usually only deploy in a front-end impact (or side for side airbags).
