Think your tyres are expensive ?!

Featured Replies

I had a puncture on the vRS at the weekend, so having switched to the spare, I took the flat to the local tyre fitter's place this morning.

There was a lovely Audi RS6 saloon in the queue in front of me. I guessed that his bill might be just a little bit more than mine...

From what I could hear of the driver's conversation, he'd only had the front tyres done in June. Fitter recommended new ones all round, since the RS is a obviously a quattro - and the final quote was over £900

But when the driver turned his key and fired it up, I knew full well that he'd probably had his money's worth

Si

that's quite excessive!

and I thought £150 for a pair of Avon ZZ3's for my Fabia was expensive... and that was trade price!

I noted on Top Gear at the weekend the Aston DBS has tyres specially designed and manufactured for that car alone - Now they will be expensive

Quite a few performance cars have specially designed tyres which probably carry a premium. Even the Clio Cup has them I think....

Even the 2.8 Capri did, way back in the 1980s.

I believe the Bugatti Veyron tyres are around £3000!!!

How annoying would that be if they are dealer supply only and you have a puncture on a Sunday miles from the nearest dealer

Luckily mine are alright.

Only cost me £25 for a new spare tyre was a cheapy one.

When I need a set I will buy branded.

I recently spent £200 on four new Goodyears... cant imagine spending £900!!!

But i suppose if you've got a car like that... you can A: afford it and B: Be expecting it!!!

looking online i can get goodyear eagle gs-d3's for my mazda for £152 delivered, thats for 4 including vat :D

then another £20 or for fitting

I may need some new rears, already, they are only about 4k old but non-big branded. Errm, did I ever mention my car likes going sideways? :o

*Sideways is in it goes far too easily thanks to the rubbish tyres, not my poor driving

The best tyres for mine are lotus approved, and they are also the only source, so IIRC they are about £120 a corner + fitting.

I've done about 20k miles on some of mine so far.
