Tom Tom 3 Release date ?

Featured Replies

Got tomtom v3 yesterday with the bluetooth gps thingy, tried it on the way to work this morning. The directions it gave would have worked, its just not the route I would have taken. So I ignored most of the directions and kept it recalculating as I went along. I have installed the checkpoint addin and the speedcam databases (not the one on pocketgps world) and it now announces the presence of speedcams with a nice reminder of the speed limit.

The only thing bugging me is when setting up the route, I can go from my house to anywhere but if its a common road name you need to know the postcode.

Manny, is it tomtom that give the speed limit, or is it the other program that you use. (I have checkpoint and use the pocket gps database) so if it is the other database, what is the link?

Well I ordered it this morning. An Ipaq PDA with Tom Tom 3. Hopefully get it this week and shall see what I think of it. I'd be interested in the link for the camera database Manny. Need a speed camera warning system!

If you go to http://www.pocketgpsworld.com Graeme, they have every thing you will need and more.

you will also need www.digitools.co.uk as it has a complete postcode database with a search tool that connects to tomtom.

Cheers mate.

Looking forward to getting my delivery now! :D

Jeff, if you install checkpoint from the link above and setup an account at poiplace, then provided you follow the destructions you can sync with their server from the ipaq when its in the cradle. You can also download some speech, which you can add to the poi's as warnings. You need to config checkpoint from kmh to mph for it to work properly,

Cheers manny, I have checkpoint already, so it is just the rest. What is the weblink I need for this software?

Shall try and get them sorted. Cheers guys! ;)

It arrived this morning and I have just finished setting it all up. Now need to sort the camera db! :D

Graeme, the camera bit is really easy to setup.

1) download checkpoint v3.2

2) create accound on poiplace above

3) wait for email with code, and click to complete registration code.

4) in checkpoint bung in your email addy and the code emailed to you.

5) click synchronise, then refresh.

6) select uk, highlight the speed camera folder and click synchronise.

You can add sounds to each individual type so you get a voice alert. You can download these from the checkpoint website. highlight the poi in checkpoint and select properties.

Dont forget to update tomtom to the latest version (v3.01 with 3.02 GPS) this has several fixes for the 2210. Also I hope you updated the 2210 rom to 1.10 before doing the upgrade as it fixes a few problems, I say before because to do it now will erase the whole ipaq. I found out the hard way.
