Featured Replies

Meeting date - Sunday 20th January 2008 at 12pm.

Meeting at the Rheged Centre in Penrith on the A66, for sat nav people CA11 0DQ.

Planned is a short drive after meeting to a local stop for a treat (if plans work out) then a drive north to Carlisle with another quick stop near Brampton and finally on to The Toby Carvery for a feed. So I will need quite definate numbers in order to reserve table's.

All are welcome so feel free to free to bring swmbo and kids.

See you all soon.

Your more than welcome. Penrith seems to be an ideal place really. Easy for yourself, Mac67, the nice lads from the north east, etc. Thanks for starting the list Sharkrider.

For the summer me and my brother are planning almost a super meet. We've some good roads in mind and some good photo opportunities. Could see us driving for 70/80 miles on the route, with good food along the way. Anyway more on that later.

a "super" meet with a long drive would be cool.... remember to tell people they can camp and make a weekend of it if they wish! just like postman pat and gillywibble did when I did the last keswick one... that;ll bring people in from further away ;)

keep your eye on the camping meet one too!

I'm fancing the camping meet too.

I should be able to make this one, with it being on a Sunday. Fingers crossed

And only 5 minutes away as well. it would be rude not to.

A little update on the plans. Drove the first part of the route this afternoon to the first stopping point. All went well, nice views, and the first port of call is open on Sundays which is nice. After that driving north past penrith via the M6, to dodge the traffic, then back onto a good road.

Just working out rough times at place so I can book the necessary tables for food, but looking to be around the 4.30 mark. How's that for everyone?

Oh and while I was driving round I came across a police volvo with it's blue flashing lights on. As i came past I saw a new shape Renault Clio 197 thingy, only with it's front end hanging in bits around a couple of trees that it had come to rest against. Hope there were no injuries.

See you all soon. :D

All sounds good to me Ian, i'm liking your attention to detail! Are we eating at Rheged before we set off or is the 'local stop for a treat' your way of sayin you're treating us to a Macky Dees in Carlisle en route? Might be worth mentioning carvery is £8 on a Sunday but it is 'all you can eat'. Look out for money off vouchers in national newspapers!

Plans so far will be meeting at Rheged, then leaving for an, and I know it's January, ice cream at a local farm. Trust me the icecream's good. The first stop is only a 20 minute drive away via the scenic route. Then driving north.

Oreet Mac. How's the weather over the hill?

Why, have you got your eyes shut?
