Featured Replies

right i have just colected a set off octy 17s one of them is in good condition but the other 3 are a bit scuffed im in the south east just wonderd what others have payed for a fefurb i am going to give spit and polish a call tomorow they are based in tonbridge has anyone used them before.

i think im going to get all of them done so they alll match.

Considered getting another colour? It's probably worth getting something a little different if you're paying for the choice. White? Black? Anthracite? I definitely don't recommend tryiing the job yourself unless you're confident about doing it. I tried to do mine and I didn't get a finish that satisfies me.

Based on this link buried in my favourites New Alloy Wheels & Wheel Refurbishment they charge £205, but if you look more closely they also charge for inspecting or sending them away to pristine wheels I think.

Alloy Wheel Refurbishment - Refurb - Refurbishing - West Midlands also provides quotes. Remember if you put in your telephone number, when I did this they called me once and sent about 3 e-mails trying to get me to come on down and get my wheels refurbed with them.

Spit and polish have been going for over 15 yrs, so should be ok.

i did think about a differnt colour Anthracite maby but not sure it would sute my black car white may be a good idea.

I've not use Spit and Polish personally, but a mate has and they did a great job on his 18's. My wheels are in need of a refurb too, so I'll be taking mine there in the Spring. I think they quoted me about £60-£70 a wheel when I inquired a few months ago. I drive past their workshop often, and there's always some really nice cars parked outside having their wheels done.

I like the idea of white! Anthracite and black are becoming too common these days in my opinion.

Spit and Polish have a great rep, but tend to charge higher prices. It's probably justified - you get what you pay for etc...

There is a company in Gillingham ( can't recall the name at the mo ), where SWMBO's 1007 Pug went to have a wheel re-done after I ground it out big time. Came back as good as new. It was £83 a wheel

I think they are located near Gillingham BR station. Maybe MDK1 or DELAC would have a better idea................

I'll do some digging and get back to you.

Goodness - £83?! I'd have hoped it was perfect

You tend to pay £30-40 a corner at a reputable North-West based refurbisher...

Steve

ive got a guy i use here, whos mobile and refurbs any used cars alloys we have in stock.

i can ask him if he will do yours for you if you like, and get a price?

May I ask which refurbisher? I am currently considering my options between refurb/new wheels. If I can get all 4 13" alloys done for £120 and a proper refurb job was done (strip, sand/blast or machining or whatever they do, and powder coating etc), I'd be very happy with that. All others I have seen charge at least £200.

Thanks in advance.

The last time I needed to, I used:

Very well know company around merseyside. Almost used them a few months back but they were closed for a while due to some personal stuff but now they are open as usual.

And only about 2 mins from our flat which is a bonus :D

Could you let me know as well. I've got 2 with minor damage and would like to change the colour to graphite or black.

i gave spit and polish a call today and they gave me a price of £58.50 per whee +VATl and that includes tyre fitting and removel so thay can take of the 205/50/17s and fit my new 215/40/17s think i might go fot it they can do any couler i want i think i might go for a nice sparkly silver somethink to shine in the sun :)

Fairly reasonable I reckon, especially if you can benefit from them fitting your new tyres.

If it were me, I'd definitely get them to drop a little metallic fleck into the mix. Makes things a bit more interesting :)
