TC - new one on me !

Featured Replies

I was very surprised today whilst cruising at 60mph in torrential rain through standing water on the road - my traction control was triggered and it automatically dis-engaged my cruise control.

I suppose it could be quite a logical safety feature, in that if you're losing grip you don't necessarily want the cruise control to keep your speed up. Or is it a fault ?

Anyone else noticed this ?

Nope thats perfectly correct, and for the reason you guessed.

Cruise can be cut by...

Acelerator,

Brake,

Clutch,

Traction control.

One flick of resume and you back.

the accelerator doesn't cut it m8

Slightly off topic question, but it's been bugging me :) What happens in a manual transmission car if you're going along at 50mph in 5th and you set cruise control on (at 50mph). You then come to a steep hill where you'd normally need to change down to 4th but you leave it in 5th and leave it up to cruise to maintain speed?

I can understand it working in an automatic as that would just drop down a gear, but not what would happen in a manual? Does it allow the car to stall?

the ecu would try and maintain 50

and what would happen if you set it to say 80mph... and tried to resume it in 2nd gear?

the ecu would try and maintain 50

So would eventually stall when the revs fell low enough?

Chris

i would imagine so

I think the KK is a magic system that also engages clutch, shifts you down to 4th, and floors it!

I'm almost tempted to try it just to see what happens !

CC will try and maintain whatever speed you have selected in whatever gear you are in. That said, it can only achieve what you could achieve if driving with it off.

that's why i enjoyed cruise in my bmw so much more and utilised it more often(as it was an auto)

does it come with a turbo boost button for jumping wagons like KIT did as well !?

Isn't it KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand)?

A red light on the front would be cool though!
