Other alternative (which doesn't require any courage) is to overtake like what you were taught on that advanced training day you done :P

Chris

Well, yeah! :P Just sometimes you can't hang back that far to do the proper roadcraft thing.

Graeme. That's boring, so boring. :thumbdwn: :( Why have something others do as well when I can have something unique, something I built with my own hands? (with some help :o)

I've not used 100% yet at all - 75%, if that. Which might be why the ASR hasn't come on. But then I feel I have accelerated in conditions where before the LSD went in, it would have lost a bit of traction, yet now? nothing.... Another 350 miles still before I can really start to have fun....

 ive done my time now, and i can play again. it was a boring 500miles. the only other by-product was........................... bloody hell my car does 50mpg :D

Will be ace for drag racing. will be interesting to see how much you 1/4 mile times have improved with the lsd.

The locking rear diff on the hilux is mint. Push of a button and the rear diff becomes locked, just what you need for drag races :D

I appreciate what you have done ( who doesn't ) and I wasn't having a go at you, but I shudder to think what it has cost you in time and money.

Barking mad, you are.....

Well time is time, but money? Best not to think about it. Modding will stop though. :) My car is probably the reason I'm not on the property ladder. ;)

well jase i have had a change of plan,my spec clutch is on its way(thanks again for the part no's)and a certain jabba sport will fit my clutch as well as supply and fit a peloquin lsd for a whisker over £1000 which is a great price,so i will be running this one in a matter of weeks,

got my fuel rail today thanks:D

all this gary because you got embarassed by a 21 year old bagga :D

your going down:rofl:

Good laaaad!!! My mate has a plate diff in his rally nova and its awesome. Theres a motorway exit here where i live which takes you on a 270 degree bend. In mine I daren't take it at anything above 55 in mine, but in his he went about 75 the loony, but all was well. I'd defo recommend one.

PM me if interested in a 02M one, about £1200 fitted

Can i be really blonde and ask exactly what LSD does?

(I always thought it was a fun drug!)

I believe you have a Peloquin as opposed to a Quaiffe which afaik is a little bit more 'agressive' but I'm sure you'll get to love it once you've mastered it

I'm not jealous, honest! :o;)

A LSD is a Limited Slip Differential.

What that means is the diff actually drives both wheels (a std diff puts the power through the wheel with least resistance [grip] for example, if you park with one driven wheel on wet grass an the other on dry tarmac the wheel on the grass will spin) sod it try here!

So with a standard diff, am I right in saying that if I was to tilt the car on it's side so only the driver side wheels were on the road - if I tried to accelearate away, only the passenger side wheels would move - thus the car would stay still? Or have I got this completely wrong.

I meet someone a while back with a Ibiza Cupra (1.8T) who was having a LSD fitted to his car and was hoping to reach the 4s mark 0-60 (obviously he had lots of other mods aswell).

in a nutshell yes,this is correct:thumbup:

Yes as oilburninnut confirmed thats right

But with a LSD both wheels have drive going to them thats why when they are torqued right up (just a little slip) they weave down the road like a drunk driver!!

This is because when one wheel gets more grip than the other (going through a puddle for example) the car will pull towards the wheel with the most grip.

Learn something new everyday. I always assumed that power was distributed equally to each wheel.

Yeah, great looking car - think he was from Brighton.

Found a link now rashcupra's 349bhp mk4 cupra - SEAT Cupra.net

It's 349BHP!!

That would then effectively be a lock diff, undrivable on a FWD car (going round corners the inside wheel would have to spin as its traveling a shorter distance)

Thats why hes single... its a love affair with his car

What's your excuse for being single then Col. eh?

With all these mates of yours building 300bhp PD engines all day long, and having rally cars, I'm suprised you don't have the fastest Fabia. (Those were not my words, just my mates)

Tis more fun :D

Yes, it was the RS - apparently a bit of a bugger to master!

My Focus RS has 300bhp and it has never suffered with torque steer. The problem was the press cars Ford gave to the journos had their map tweaked and the power spiked very quickly. Hence it made the steering twitch. The RS doesnt have LSD it has an Automatuc Torque Biasing Differential (ATB) which differs from a LSD. Same principal but works in a different way.

Either way, the best way to avoid torque steer is to move out to overtake, then floor it! Not flooring it and steering it at the same time, as you get a wobble on!

i think the tyres played a big part in focus rs handling, hence some journo's raved about the rs and some hated it,from certain things i've read they appear to be very tyre sensative,it has the quaife diff in,which isn't as hardcore as the peloquin:thumbup:

I run Toyo T1Rs as I do on my VRS. Never had any problems with them.
