Is there 2 different types available? I remember the first bottle i bought was in a dark grey bottle, and had something like -40 or -50 degrees or something, but the last bottle i bought was ready diluted to -21...

not sure what it says on mine, but its 4 bottles mixed with one bottle of water, ive done it as 3 bottles to 1.5 bottles of water as it seemed to strong as it was leaving antifreeze marks all over the car when squirted.

Yes, that was what I was thinking -70 ???? I think you need to be thinking about -7C or -15C as minimum temperatures - and that is Penicuik!! (ice station zero). Original poster should be trying Holts extra concentrated "whats it" from Costco and dilute either 1 part to 3 parts water or 1 part to 2 parts water - 3 parts to 1 part water - tut tut, try reading the guidence notes on the containers or as I suggested try buying some proper stuff - oh its only -8C at the moment so not too cold yet!

Put it straight in with the fumes off of that it would be like drink driving, when diluted 5 -1 it is still strong. :eek:

Holts stuff from Costco is the daddy, Wonder Wheels is on offer there too at the moment also immense.

Why pay the same price for 5Ltr of -7 screen wash ?

When you pay the same for 5tr of 5:1 dilution wash

You were using 4 of screenwash to 1 water :eek:

1 screenwash to 4 water is the summer dilution ratio.

I think 1 screenwash to 2 water will protect down to -16 so I don't think you've an issue.

I use Halfords lemon fresh screenwash, 5 parts water to 1 part screenwash - it's awesome!

While that is the case, I find it interesting that a dealer I spoke to said that VW approve autoglym products, including their screen wash for VW cars.

Read into that as you desire.

Whatever you use make sure it has water softeners in it or youwill get a really nasty hard scuzz in the fan jets.

Is it fu*k the case - the dealer is bound to say that. Screenwash is screenwash. You need to use VW group coolant (G12) apparently, but I wouldn't worry about screenwash.

Thats correct, the washers are a fanjet type and some screenwashes can cause that to clog, dealers can refuse warranty claims on them if its obvious that the type of wash is incorrect. I always use the VAG stuff, and its not too expensive plus it smells quite good.

thats what dealer said. would clog up and £40 to fix. he said other screenwash would dry in fan and crystalise.

I don't know if the clogging thing is true, but the genuine screenwash isn't expensive and works well, so I use it.
