I have had a strange love for the madness for the clio v6 since forever (i want one) the problem is there is ane local to me now and i can aford .

Autotrader - RENAULT CLIO V6 3.0 RENAULTSPORT

I want to go and have a look at it but am scared that ill end up selling my much loved furby that i am still spending money on :D.

Please tell me to stay away from it.

Tell me all the bad things about it

Go on go and have a look at it! You know you want to. LOL

If you did end up buying it all you have to do is strip the Furby of it's mods and store them in the shed. The V6 is the sort of car you'd probably get bored with after a while and you'd want another vRS with it's low running costs etc, so you'd have all the bits and all you'd need to do is find another car.

I laughed (almost) at the bit in the advert where it lists amongst the V6s features 'folding rear seats', is that so you can get a better view of the engine?

Though they say you souldn't reach for the stars as the glitter can rub off. So you may not be that smitten after all. You've gotta go look at it at least......

do it.

The early ones had some handling issues, iirc and this was sorted out on the revised version (but I can't remember the year it came in - July 2003?) which also had 25 more bhp. Performance is good though and it'll effortlessly keep pace with a lot more exotic machinery. A friend ran one and the only issue he had with it was that with the optional sports exhaust it was making less than stock power (on an optimistic rolling road!), but I don't know if he resolved that - it certainly easily made book 0-60 times.

Great cars and great noise and I'd have one in my lottery-win garage, although if I had to run the thing now, I'd probably be looking at a 172 Cup which offers similar performance, but is much easier on the wallet :D

Chris

doubt you will get much MPG, and group 20 Insur - so I dont think she will be cheap to run :(

thats an old shape version in the AD , so expect the handling to be a bit wayward

Throw 5 Grand in a bin as you're passing one - there, now you've just had 6 months worth of Clio expense, but without all the hassle.

But - don't forget you have to do it all again in 6 months time :(

I might go and have a look tomorow or friday just to try and put me off it i know i will lose money on a car like thisbut i think i might keep my vrs for another year or so and get the newer shape v6. i do love my furby and think im better of spending a bit more money on that before i do somethink stupid like getting a 2 seater v6 clio (v6 clio thats mad). havent even fitted my 312s yet.

love is blind - go for it or not - have a look and then a test drive and then see how much you like it and how much it will cost you.....

Then try to make a informed decision - if you decide against, you won't feel bad that you passed it up.....

On the other hand - put another mod on the furby for far les and enjoy that, :lol

HTH

Bas

do it :)

I'm looking at mental cars too

Go for it, you only live once, no pockets in shrouds etc, Or even better buy my octy 2 vRS, (then I can go buy my Maserati 4200 :D)

if you get one you will love it as long as you drive it with the respect it deserves.

Also bodywork is expensive so prangs normally result in a cat D sadly.

Go and have a drive in one mate and make up your own mind

Its up to you, but my hubby had a Clio - it was well looked after, but seemed to have a tendancy to want to keep parting with its various engine parts - ignition coils going bang, bizarre wobbling gear stick when driving along (my kangoo now has one too!), loose plastic fittings dropping off,and watch out for the bonnet catch recall... He now drives a Fabia!

Apart from that, go for it lol!

If you can afford to run the thing, then sure, give it a go!

Go on, you know you want to :P

Go on go for it, but personally I would go for my elise over the clio. but thats only my opinion.

Go and drive one, look at what they cost to run, then decide if there is anything else you would prefer for the money.

i say stick with what you got, money saved for holiday, new toys for the missis, p-ss up with the lads new flat cap and lastlya38 smith&wesson!!

screw the holiday, get a V6 RWD clio and drive to france :D

the people here telling you not to buy it are the same people that would warn you off buying a 21year old little turbo hatch back with a fair bit of rust for £450 but do you know what its the most fun car i have ever owned and the buying of it, welding, getting it through the MOT, tax, insurance, tyres, extra wheels, all new springs, dampers, bushes and the rest of the moving parts on the suspension along with a new stereo and speakers have cost me less than half of buying my octavia and it has been way more reliable and fun :D

my octavia only cost me £5500 too :D

i say buy it,you have to have somthing crazy at least once:thumbup:

Best thing is have a drive in it and see how you like it :) I've always wanted one of them, but they arent that quick as standard IIRC but correct me if i'm wrong :)

If you drive it and like it, and as someone said, can afford to run the thing, they go for it!!

At least go and take it for a spin, you might not like it.
